INTRODUCTION ABOUT
SCHOOL
Only an education that nourishes inherent virtues can impart true intelligence.
Today, it is the concern of all parents that their children should grow up to be
happy, well-educated
human beings with core values. Somewhere along the line, however, the link to
true happiness appears to be getting severed; we are losing the goal of happiness.
Basic human values need to be encouraged in the classroom. A child is born with
these values and a teacher needs to uncover them. What are these human values?
Compassion, co-operation, friendliness, smiles, laughter, lightness, wanting to
help, a sense of belonging and caring for each other. The need of the day is a
broad-minded education accompanied by a warm heart. A well-educated person
is thus one who is friendly, compassionate, and able to be a ‘nobody’ with
everybody. The creative methods of teaching as envisioned by our Founder will
help children to more fully develop their personalities.

Everybody who has a stake in education must ponder the need for a holistic,
healthy educational system that will enhance the values and virtues with which
each of us is naturally endowed. Put simply, education must address all aspects
of human life.

Since a healthy body best supports a sound mind and spirit, creative sports and
such ancient practises as meditation, yoga and pranayam should be part of a
child’s learning process. The key is to harness the ancient values and be
innovative with the modern. This is what we would like at our Academy commit
towards achieving for our students.

Learning Approach
8-4-8 approach.

While most Indian schools focus on academic development, at PST we believe

in giving children access to a wide variety of learning experiences, skills and
areas of knowledge.

We take the solid academic foundation that a board’s curriculum provides, and
add to it all that is missing: extracurricular subjects, an approach to teaching that
makes learning more enjoyable, highly-trained teachers, and the best-in-class
facilities for an environment where children flourish. Our approach actively

08| LYCEE School D e v e l o p m e n t P r o j e c t

nurtures a child's physical, artistic, and emotional development, in addition to
academic growth.

The result is a new approach to education that brings together the best ideas
from across the world, to develop each child's natural talents and make them the
best they can be. We call it the 8:4:8 approach.

The 8-4-8 Approach

Care and Counselling
Children need tender care. To ensure they are completely safe at PST Academy,
the school will arrange for fast medical support. Our modern infirmary will be
appropriately equipped and supervised by experienced medical professionals.

We also have trained in-house counsellors and special educators to offer

personalized attention and care to children who might find it difficult to cope or
open up in class and share their little difficulties and concerns.

Student Evaluation

The academic year at academy will have two terms, based on which, two
assessment reports would be given to each student. The evaluation will be on an
on-going basis with emphasis on assessing what the child has understood in the
class. Weekly Assessments will be taken to develop regular study habits and
prepare them for senior school.

No term exams at the primary school

Evaluation in the Primary segment would be based on Grades and not marks,
which would indicate a range of proficiency in certain skills and concepts
selected for assessment. This would prevent stress in the early years and keep a
child from unnecessary competition and parental pressure to perform which
might otherwise rob a child of the joys of learning.

Class V
Term Exams would be gradually introduced to prepare students for senior

motivate students to maintain their consistent performance.
