Table 1 Comparative analysis of teak wood importing countries.......................................................5

PRODUCT TYPE: WOOD
Teak is a type of wood that is received from the teak tree, which is a rigid birch (tropical
silver-white, smooth bark tree) wood.

A highly valued wood is teak, to which various uses are attributed, such as making
furniture and boats. Teak comes from Southeast Asia, India, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam,
where it can get and / or reach heights of up to 40 meters; Currently, the tropical areas of
Africa and Latin America also have planted forests, these trees grow faster than their
beginnings, which reduces the diversion of logging and makes their use more interesting
every day. The color of teak is usually dark golden brown, however the color range changes
from reddish tones to fairly light tones. In addition, it admits that the paint can be processed
to modify its color without losing its appearance

TEAK TREES: Teak is part of the core of the Verbenacea family and can grow up to 130
to 150 feet (39 to 45 m) in elevation and can last up to a century.

Properties: Teak wood has various natural oils and rubbers, which make3 softer,
more durable and easier to carve.

TIME: Older trees have the potential to generate higher quality wood. Teak should be at
least 40 years old in history to be felled. In addition, they require one to 2 years of drainage
process.

Functionality: Teak has several uses, including the construction or elaboration of interior
and exterior furniture, boats, floors and door and window frames.
DESTINATION COUNTRY
Worldwide, the teak wood market is constantly on the rise, thanks to the indiscriminate
felling of the natural forests of TECA in the Asian nations for several years, as a result, the
imposition of bans on the felling of the trees has been essential. teak which are considered
sacred by the kings in Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and India, territories with the largest
number of teak trees on the planet, thus ceasing to provide the volumes of teak wood
required to satisfy the needs of their peoples. which for sociocultural reasons demand a lot
for products made in teak Given the growing ecological pressure, many industrialized
countries have banned the importation of tropical woods, except for those cut from
sustainable sources. Known in the nations as importers of teak, it is necessary to learn
several changes that in our opinion are decisive when trying to do negotiations with them.
For the analysis of the nations with importing potential, North America, Europe and Japan
were not taken into account for demanding sawn teak wood, since the labor in these
territories is not economic, which would increase production prices, they require the sawn
wood to quickly process the finished product. The South American nations were also not
taken into account since teak wood is one of the finest in the world due to the qualities
already mentioned and the articles or products of this wood would be quite expensive to be
paid for by the South American nations.

China

The People's Republic of China is a sovereign territory located on the East Asian continent.
It is the most populated territory in the world, with well over 1.4 billion inhabitants, and the
world's leading economic power by Gross Domestic Product, in terms of purchasing power
parity..

The People's Republic of China is a socialist state governed by the Communist Party and
has the seat of its regime in the most important city, Beijing. It is divided into 22 provinces,
5 autonomous zones, 4 municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing) and 2
special administrative zones (Hong Kong and Macao). It also claims the province of
Taiwan, which is controlled by the ROC with a controversial island political status. Even
though in 2014, and measured in terms of nominal Gross Domestic Product, China was the
second world economy (US $ 10.36 trillion) according to the consensus of the IMF (IMF),
8 in terms of purchasing power parity (US $ 17, 63 trillion in 2014), the Chinese economy
was already the first in the world, 8 ahead of the United States. In 2012, its Gross Domestic
Product PPP per capita was US $ 9,055.8, while its nominal Gross Domestic Product per
capita was US $ 6,071.

With a population of more than 1.2 billion, growing incomes, and a revival of classical
Chinese values regarding the accumulation and expression of wealth, China is a fairly
fundamental potential market in the medium term for producers of wooden goods. and
office furniture. It is believed that, by the end of the 21st century, China will become the
world's second largest furniture manufacturer and will be among the top 5 markets in the
world. Even though furniture sales in China have grown at a rate of 9% annually over the
last 6 years, the vast majority of Chinese customers do not have the means to still obtain
imported or premium quality furniture.

India

Officially the Republic of India (in Hindi, भारत गणराज्य, Bhārat Gaṇarājya; in English,
Republic of India), is a sovereign territory located in the southern part of the set of Asian
nations. With its more than 1409 million inhabitants, it is the second largest territory in the
world by population. It borders the Indian Sea to the south, the Arabian Ocean to the west
and the Gulf of Bengal to the east, along a coastline of well over 7517 kilometers.10 India
also borders Pakistan to the west, to the north China, Nepal and Bhutan and to the east with
Bangladesh and Burma. Also, India is around the islands of Sri Lanka, Maldives, and
Indonesia. Its capital is New Delhi and its most populous metropolis is Bombay. Home to
the culture of the Indus Valley and a historic area for its trade routes and monumental
empires, the Indian subcontinent has been renowned for its cultural and commercial wealth
for most of its long history.

In 2017, the Indian economy became the third largest in the world and the sixth in terms of
nominal Gross Domestic Product. The economic reforms of 1991 have transformed it into
one of the fastest growing economies; However, it still suffers from disadvantages such as
high levels of poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition and constant violations of women's rights. In
2016, the richest 10% had 55% of the national income. In addition to a religiously plural,
multilingual and multi-ethnic society, India is also home to different flora and fauna in
different habitats. From Colombia, the largest number of services goes to the ports of:
Bombay, Calcutta and Madras, even though there are other alternatives such as: Cochin,
Kandla, Nhavashera, New Delhi and Tuticorin.

For air transport, the entrance to the Indian zone is characterized by a huge proportion of
airports, which specialize in cargo of valuables, dangerous cargo, refrigerated cargo, live
animals and plants, and so on. Even though the largest part of the world business with this
area is done by sea, the air cargo movement shows a growth trend in recent years. In its
long territory, India has a monumental number of airports, standing out: Bangalore (10 km
from the center), New Delhi (21 km south of the center), Calcutta (27 km northeast) On the
coast
In the west of the region, the port of Kandla is strategically located, serving as a connector
with the western, central and northern areas through extensive rail and road networks, a
port where teak wood arrives.
BRAND PROPOSAL (TEAK)
Colombia until a few years ago has ventured into the context of forestry development and
entering the group of wood exporting countries in this group are countries such as Chile,
Brazil and Ecuador that are leading the exploitation of wood from commercial
reforestation, protecting even natural forests and their native species. It should be noted that
Brazil and Ecuador, in addition to being part of the Amazon rainforest, are in the tropics
with similar characteristics of their soils and climates as Colombia, becoming a true
competition for the nation with regard to wood production. Teak.

However, this scenario, which appears as a weakness for the Colombian sector, has been
taken as an opportunity for growth since Colombia has lands suitable for commercial
reforestation, which added to the globalization of the economy allows access to new
markets for the marketing of wood.

In this sense, the country has enormous development potential in this economic sector, the
regions that export this product are Orinoquía and Urabá, which due to their characteristics
of the land offer the possibility of cultivating species, with high productivity rates and
profitability, which is why large investments appear. not only for these areas but for the
entire country.

In the same way, the development of a project of these magnitudes allows a social
contribution to the region, based on the generation of employment and resources for the
inhabitants of these areas, Colombia has a comparative and competitive advantage within
the forestry market, compared to the others countries and especially with Ecuador, Brazil
and Chile that lead the country in this economic sector..

The reason for exporting wood to China is due to its large construction market and its
growth in the manufacture of furniture and other value-added products such as flooring,
paper, etc. Since China is one of the leaders in the export of these products thanks to its
industrialization and cheaper manufacturing.
PRODUCT JUSTIFICATION

It is to be considered that Teak (Tectonis grandis) belongs to the verbenaceous family

nucleus that has an elevation of well over 30 meters with a mainly straight trunk and tipped,
usually with a triangular base. It is a wood with a tropical climate with a habitat between
10º..

Due to the unique qualities of teak there are no known pests or insects that cause significant
damage to plantations. Emerging teak plantations could be subject to insect and fungal
attacks on the foliage as well as the root system. In our region, the cultivation of teak has
increased massively, due to the high price that this wood shows in the national market and
especially in the global market; the most important sector in the cultivation of teak is in the
western area of the department of Antioquia and in the department of Córdoba, in addition
to Sucre and Bolívar to a lesser extent

This crop needs technical maintenance for its proper development, which among its tasks is
thinning, which is based on reducing the density of trees per hectare, and trees that are
crooked or with development problems are also eliminated.

Teak is an economically desirable species; However, it is a long-term investment, even

though it is also feasible to project this investment in the medium term since teak continues

to increase in cost safely as "capital in the lot," immune to the volatility of other

investments and constitutes a Rewarding tangible investment, the ecological effect of which

would make any owner proud. After being harvested, the teak regenerates up to 4 times,

granting a constant increase that results in long-term profits.
