INT: MANHATTAN COFEE SHOP – MORNING

bright and sunny morning outside a coffee shop in Manhattan New York, two police officers,
HAYLEY and ADAM, getting out the car and going to get a coffee before they go onto
patrol for the day.

ADAM

So what coffee will you have?

(looking at the menu on the chalkboard on the wall behind the counter)

HAYLEY

Probably a latte or a cappuccino, what about you

(as she looks over at Adam)

ADAM

I will just have a hot chocolate, I’m not really in the mood for coffee today

BARISTA

Hey I’m Harriot, how can I help you today. Can I interest you in any sweet treats or is it just
coffee for you today seeing as you are about to go on patrol, right?

ADAM

Yes, we are going on patrol in about (looks down at Rolex watch) 15 minutes time. we would
like a small latte for Hayley and a medium hot chocolate for me please.

BARISTA

That will be $18.55 please

ADAM

(looking at the price)

Seriously, that expensive!

BARISTA

Sorry that how we do it now because of the cost of living prices and fuel

HAYLEY

Don’t worry we’ll split it 50/50

(as she reaches for $10 in her pocket and gives it to the barista)

ADAM
 Okay fine (as he reaches for $8.55 and gives it to the barista)

BARISTA

Thank you, your Latte and Hot Chocolate will be ready in 5 minutes. Anything else?

HAYLEY

No that will be all thank you.

BARISTA

Awesome thank you very much for coming, here are your latte and hot chocolate, hope you
have a good day.

ADAM

Thank you, you have a great day as well

BARISTA

HAYLEY

Let’s get to work making sure New York’s streets are safe and stop any crime from
happening.

ADAM

EXT: MANHATTAN COFFEE SHOP – MID MORNING

Both of them get into the car, Hayley in the driver’s seat while Adam in the passenger seat.
The car sets of going down towards Time Square which is a very touristy area.

HAYLEY

Hope we don’t have to people in cuffs today, hey?

ADAM

Yeah I hope we don’t, do you remember what happened last time

FLASHBACK: TIME SQUARE A WEEK AGO – MID AFTERNOON

HAYLEY
Yeah, I do don’t what a repeat of that do we, hey
(small laugh)

(looking out the window and a small laugh)

DISPATCH (O.S)

All units be advised there is a man walking around Time Square dressed as a stormtrooper
with a semi-automatic machine gun in his hand, he has fired at a member of public who is
now critically injured. If you see make contact using lethal force.

HAYLEY

Well take back what I said earlier about having to cuff someone, this guy is definitely going
into custody for questioning and may end up in jail

ADAM

526 dispatch, we have eyes on the male dressed as a stormtrooper with the semi-automatic
gun in his hand we are requesting a code 3 back up to 7th avenue as he might start firing at us
DISPATCH (O.S)

Officer 526 received, we are sending 2 units code 3 to your location stand by until they get
there and then make contact.

ADAM

526 dispatched received waiting on those 2 units now. We will make contact once the other
arrive

Both officers waiting for the other two units to arrive with the suspect in their sights through
the front windscreen.

HAYLEY

(looks behind her)

Both units have arrived on scene now we can approach with caution seeing as this man has a
gun

ADAM
Understood (brings shotgun with him)

HAYLEY

Sir, please put down the weapon and put your hand above your head

SUSPECT
 What?

ADAM

Put the weapon on the ground and put your hands above your head before you put anyone
else in danger

Other units surround the subject with guns pointing at so him

SUSPECT

Okay I am putting the gun on the ground now

(proceeds to put the gun on the ground, but brings out a knife)

HAYLEY

Sir, put the knife down or I will tase you

Suspect doesn’t comply with rules, Hayley takes her taser from her waste and tases the
subject who the falls to the floor

ADAM

sir you are now under arrest for a possession of an illegal firearm and an attempted murder
SUBJECT

What have I done to deserve this? (Saying in a whiny voice)

HAYLEY

You have critically injured one member of the public and an attempted murdered on police
officer. You have the right to remain silence, anything you say can be used against you in a
court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You
have a right to have a lawyer with you during questioning, do you understand?

SUBJECT

INT: POLICE station – MID AFTERNOON

ADAM

Come with me sir to your sell for the night, you will be questioned in the morning

Hayley fills out the paperwork for the subject so that custody who he is and why he is her

HAYLEY

Well then was a great day, wasn’t it? First, we got coffee and then we stopped a man from
putting peoples lives at risk.
 ADAM

Yeah, we did, strange that. Well, hopefully tomorrow will be a completely different day

HAYLEY

I hope we do get a different scenario to deal with tomorrow as well

(Looking at the clock on the wall as it reads 4:30)
well, that’s our shift over then, now we go home and chill for the evening

ADAM

It sure is, see you tomorrow, Hayley. Make sure you get plenty of rest

HAYLEY

I will after what happened today, have a good evening

ADAM

Both officer walk of in different direction to their locker rooms to change from there police
outfits to regular clothing and then head home for the day.
