General Introduction –
Government Inspections and International Trade

In today’s world of trade, success is triggered by the ability to offer the right products at the right time complying with
the exact requirements. With increasing globalization, the risk of products and materials not being delivered on time
and/or lacking the quality agreed upon grows. At the same time business partners in different parts of the world have
the common need for a guarantee that ordered components, materials and equipment align with given specifications.

As a result, governments implement Pre-Shipment Inspection programmes to ensure that imports comply with their
national regulations. An independent third party like TÜV Rheinland provides pre-shipment inspection services to
ensure that equipment, components and relevant documentation conform to contractual requirements.

Our extensive experience gained in global supply chain projects make us your preferred partner. You can benefit from
our know-how and tailored solutions for your business.

been divided in six major groups, three of which require a “Technical Inspection
Report” (TIR) to be placed on the market:

Besides the regular shipping documents for all kinds of produts, health
certificates for food are required in addition.
Saudi Arabia S AU D I P R O D U C T S A F E T Y P R O G R A M ( S A L E E M )

Starting from January 1st 2019, the previous CoC-program has been replaced by
the SALEEM-program. With this, SASO has developed a new online portal (called
SABER) e.g. for product registration. In the new SALEEM conformity assessment
scheme, regulated products are determined by their ‘Harmonised System (HS)
code’ and must meet the requirements of technical specifications (TRs). Positive
conformity assessments conclude with a shipment CoC for the registered and
regulated Products.
