CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The use of learning management systems and other technology in the field of education is known
as education application. It's an app that teaches general knowledge to students. Students can expand their
knowledge and establish their credibility by using these instructional apps. Even the teachers utilize these
applications to give the kids the most recent information. Education apps assist students in analyzing what
they have learned and where it came from, piquing their curiosity but doing so in a methodical manner so
that they are aware of how, when, and what to investigate.

Furthermore, in mobile contexts, it becomes difficult for people to remember what they have used,
because mobile applications can be used for various tasks, in various contexts, whether professional or
personal, and the variety of applications, the use made, the periods of use are usually so wide and
differentiated, that it can become difficult for users to refer which services or applications they have used,
under which circumstances and how often ( Boase & Ling, 2013).

However, considering the contributions of EA in mobile learning, researchers have found errors
and issues that may still be encountered. First issue may be in terms of technology and apps’ system such
as (a) Majority of apps required internet; if the user doesn’t have internet connection then the app is
useless and may affect the academic performance of the peer. The second factor that may affect the usage
of EA as cited by a study is the inadequate preparation, skills and experience have been reported; time,
uncompromising attitude, and reluctance to use technology are the common challenges among teachers in
shaping their use of technology. The last factor would be the distraction faced by students. And another
study cited that on current findings reports, some educators see mobile devices as disruptive instruments
which are not helpful and increase diversion from learning. Upon using EA in ICT devices, at the same
time, students may also access gaming apps and social media apps which may lead to distractions.
(Christopher Francisco www.ijeais.org/ijamr)

The point of this study is to find the most popular educational application for students' academic
work. The researchers are interested in finding out which apps are always used for their educational
purposes and how can they ensure that the app they using is applicable for educational purposes. In
conclusion, the researchers are interested in determining the contribution that educational applications
make to the academic success of senior high school STEM-12 students at Maddela Comprehensive High
School. Surveys, questionnaires, and scales will be used to collect the information and compile the
evidence .

B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The aim of this study is to identify the most used educational application of STEM Students in Maddela
Comprehensive High School (MCHS)

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of?

a. Strand
b. Educational Attainment
c. Grade Status
2. Is there an advantages in using most educational application when it comes to gaining more
information about STEM strand?
3. Is there a benefits in using most educational application when it comes to exploring about
educational attainment?
4. Is there a benefits in using most educational application when it comes to knowing the
advantages about grade status?

C. STATEMENT OF THE HYPOTHESIS

The study dealt with following hypotheses :

1. There are no advantages in using most educational application when it comes to gaining more
information about STEM strand.
2. There are no benefits in using most educational application when it comes to exploring about
educational attainment.
3. There are no benefits in using most educational application when it comes to knowing the
advantages about grade status.

D. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

 STUDENTS - They can site this study to help them know what are the most used
educational application as STEM student. The benefits of this application can help them
to find or gain more information about their educational purposes. Also, this it will help
them to know what is the most applicable application.
 PARENTS - They are also benefits to this study to help their children know what is the
most used educational application. It will serve as their parenting to their children. Also,
this application will help the parents in collaborating with their children.
 TEACHERS - They will discover this study on what are the most used educational
application to improve learning and retention. They can inspire personal growth to the
students. Also, it helps them to share actively the knowledge they have gained
 FUTURE RESEARCHER - Serve as a guide for additional information. Also, it can
help them to find another citation about the most used educational application.
E. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

This action research presents a paradigm which consists of input, process and output. The Grade-
12 students and questionnaires served as the input, assessment on most used educational application as an
influential interference is the process and database on the assessed among the student is the output.

continuing to posses, control, or hold).
 Tacit – expressed or carried on without words or speech

CHAPTER II
REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE
This chapter reviews pertinent research on determining the most popular teaching tool utilized by
Grades 12 STEM students at Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS). This chapter also
emphasizes the advantages that learning can have on future instructors, as well as on those who are close
to the learners. This chapter also discusses what educators can do to address situations of this nature.
Online course materials are increasingly being accessed by both teachers and students on their
personal computers. Future students will probably need to continue using technology in the workplace,
whether learning takes place in official or casual settings. As a result, it would make a lot of sense if
teachers used virtual learning environments, such as serious games, stories, and simulations, as a means
of imparting knowledge, skills, and competences to their pupils. According to this logic, students who
want to learn theory and concepts through digital media may have a chance to do so. Through relevant
experience carrying out certain tasks, they can gain tacit knowledge. Students can develop their talents
over time. (Camilleri, A.C. & Camilleri, M.A. 2019)

It makes sense that certain geeks or EA builders would upgrade technologies and concepts to be
more effective over time in order to motivate kids to learn in our present careers with the aid of cell
phones, laptops, tablets, and other technology. Furthermore, lesson-integrated games, apps, and software,
as well as EA's ability to let teachers alter their lesson plans, are some of the innovative methods that
modern education uses to assess students' learning. ( Christopher Francisco. www.ijeais.org/ijamr)
In Malaysia, a different study was done to see how satisfied male and female students were with
using e-learning portals. He discovered a strong correlation between user pleasure and online learning.
The quality of the e-service and the information given determine both participants' satisfaction levels
(Shahzad et al., 2020). The following are some benefits of online learning: flexibility, accessibility, and
contact between students and professors (Strayer University, 2020). The benefits and significance of
online learning have highlighted some of its drawbacks, including data privacy. Universities should teach
their staff and students on cybersecurity and data privacy since students use their computers and mobile
devices to access internetportals, putting their personal information at danger (Luxatia,2020).
(Almahasees Z, Mohsen K and Amin MO 2021).
One study that used EA for Science confirmed that the usage of mobile applications in science
education has been demonstrated to be effective, relevant, and important because students' cognitive loads
were reduced as abstract information became concrete in printed books via multimedia elements. Further
data showed that 54% of language training activities involved formal educational settings and 74%
engaged undergraduate students.
Thru this study, the research team experimentally investigates the most used educational
application of Grade-12 STEM students in MCHS. The results of monitoring the most used educational
application among Grade-12 STEM it will help the future learners in gaining more information for their
educational purposes.
