ABSTRACT

English is a language that has been designated as an international language. English has
been studied by more than millions of people around the world. The rapid development of data
resulted in the demand for data analysts to improve their capabilities. In this era of Big Data,
many companies need people who are experts in the field of data and the ability to process data
and speak good language. This is where English language skills are needed. For this reason, in
processing data, it is necessary to have good language skills, one of which is English.

INTRODUCTION

There are many high level data scientists in the world and they must have their own
language. English is the universal language and because of that, they need to learned it as well.
This is why there are so many data scientist using English as basic language. At a high level,
data science is a set of basic principles that support and guide the principled extraction of
information and knowledge from data. Perhaps the concept most closely related to data science is
data mining, the actual extraction of knowledge from data through technologies that apply these
principles. There are hundreds of different data mining algorithms, and many details of field
methods. We argue that underlying all these details is a much smaller and more concise set of
basic principles. (Provost & Fawcett, 2013).

These principles and techniques are widely applied across all functional areas of the
business. Perhaps the broadest business application is in marketing for tasks such as targeted
marketing, online advertising, and recommendations for cross-selling. Data science is also
applied to general customer relationship management to analyze customer behavior to manage
friction and maximize expected customer value. The financial industry uses data science for
credit scoring and trading and in operations through fraud detection and workforce management.
Major retailers from Wal-Mart to Amazon apply data science across their businesses, from
marketing to supply chain management. Many companies have strategically differentiated
themselves from data science, sometimes to the point of developing into data mining companies.

(Provost & Fawcett, 2013).

Why English is Very Important for Data Development

1. Many large or small companies or government agencies require a person to be

proficient in English. In the job application advertisements there are also many applicants
who master English.(Rintaningrum, 2021)
2. In recent years, data science emerged as a new and important discipline. It can be viewed
as an amalgamation of classical disciplines like statistics, data mining, databases, and
distributed systems.(Van Der Aalst, 2016)
3. Skill at thinking data-analytically is important not just for the data scientist but
throughout the organization.(Provost & Fawcett, 2013)
4. Firms in many traditional industries are exploiting new and existing data resources for
competitive advantage. They employ data-science teams to bring advanced technologies
to bear to increase revenue and to decrease costs. (Provost & Fawcett, 2013)

CONClUSION

From the data above, it can be concluded that English is closely related to the
development of existing data and perhaps a lot of data is written in a more suitable language.
Therefore, we must learn and understand English as the basic language in data science to make it
easier for us to face the big data era.
