Advanced Program | EP Study – Pacing Observation*

During the EP Study, pacing stimulation is delivered

and analyzed for effect. Use these 4 questions to
better understand what you observe

Where are we pacing?

• What chamber the stimulation is delivered?

• Noted either on EGM by large “spike” or on recording
system by what channel is open

Is it capturing?
• Capture means that the chamber where the stimulation was
delivered was activated.
• If pacing in the atrium we see atrial activation following
the stimulation spike

Is it conducting?
• Conducting means that the electrical stimulation delivered
traveled from the chamber delivered to the other chambers

What is the effect?

• What was the conduction result of the pacing stimulation?
Did it block, conduct, initiate an arrhythmia?
