VISION
The College of Saint Lawrence will position itself as one of the leading institutions in providing the

economic benefits and to develop responsible citizens of our society.

MISSION
- To strictly implement the Manual of Operation and Course Syllabus as prescribed by the Department of Education
(DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education
(CHED).
-To establish targets and objectives for all members of the Faculty and Students and provide mechanisms to check its
strict implementation.
-To update and revise the said Manuals periodically to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
-To involve and consult with parents in making relevant decisions in the affairs and education of our students.
-To provide students with a balanced educational experience through formal education and actual apprenticeship in
various establishments so that all acquired theories, ideas, concepts and skills shall be blended well with practical work
application and proper attitude.
-To focus the development program of Science and Technology in the field of Business, Education, Electronics,
Computer and Information Technology.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course description is speaking, writing and presenting to different audiences and for various purposes.
The first phase deals with the mastery of fundamental techniques for effective public speaking. The second
phase includes skills in writing technical reports and business letters. Each part provides opportunity for
learning by doing the activities. To enhance their skills in writing and reporting, review of correct grammar and
usage is included.
The purpose of these combined activities is “to enable students to practice strategies of communication with a
clear purpose and audience in mind, guided by the criteria of effective communication and the appropriate
language” (CHED, 2013).
COURSE OUTCOMES
At the end of the semester, the students will be able to:
1. equips the students with the different theories and principles of organizing, developing and refining
sentence, paragraph, outline in writing, research paper, technical reports and business correspondence
through varied exercises types useful in performing tasks to pursue their academic programs;
2. consider writing clearly and concisely as an essential skill;
3. understand and write a different type of composition from a single paragraph to an essay or a report;
4. use the language in writing with such skills that it becomes a pleasure, not a chore;
5. design and write basic research paper; and
6. gain communicate competence through improvement of the basic language skills in writing research,
technical reports and business correspondence.

LESSON 3- MODES OF COMMUNICATION
ACTIVITY NO. 4

Watch a telenovela from another country with the sound turned off (so that the dubbing in Filipino
will not be heard). Specify the title of that telenovela. Note the Types of Nonverbal Communication
used by the actors in the scenes and wrote what those could possibly mean. See if the story could
be understood just by watching the Nonverbal Communication in the drama. (18-25 sentences)
