MICHIGAN STATE POLICE

State Police Are Reminding People to Lock Their Vehicles, Homes,

and Businesses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Date: October 19, 2022

BENZIE COUNTY, MI. The Michigan State Police (MSP) and local law enforcement officials in Benzie
County have seen a significant increase in reports of stolen vehicles and break-ins in Benzie County. In
the past two weeks, law enforcement has responded to seven reports of stolen vehicles. Each incident
had one common factor; the owners left their keys inside the unlocked vehicles.

We want to remind everyone to keep their valuables out of site and to always lock their vehicles. Never
leave keys inside the vehicle. We would also remind residents to lock their homes and businesses. Most
of the recent thefts and break-ins could have been avoided by locking doors and removing vehicle keys.
