Introduction
Education is so important that UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization,
founded in 1945, has as one of its main objectives to minimize illiteracy in the world, given the importance of
learning and of knowledge for our civilization since its inception. Therefore, we will deal here with the vision of
important authors from different eras and varied fields of knowledge, extending to the reader the discussion about
a possible interdisciplinary teaching-learning process between the disciplines of philosophy and music in the 21st
century. Is it possible and feasible that, with a view of the facts and authors that left a mark on their ages and
ideas on the theme referred to here, we can form the man of the present century using these disciplines to search
for a possible aretê (from the Greek ἀρετή - aretê, "Perfect adaptation, excellence, virtue")? Music, which in turn
was included within the discipline Teaching of Art, is of great importance in current Brazilian education given its
Aristotelian character of eudaimonia. Whereas the discipline Philosophy contributes in an indispensable way to
the accomplishment of four objectives that should be fundamental for any citizen: to foment habits of critical
thinking in the teaching-learning exchanges; improve reading, writing and public speaking skills; transmit
cultural heritages; stimulate the approach of fundamental questions about reality, knowledge and value.

Keywords: teaching, learning, philosophy, music, interdisciplinary

Methodology
The methodology used was of bibliographical research in articles and publications, documents that are available
online from national and foreign authors (prominent in the areas of education, philosophy and music, as well as
other authors who contributed to the discussion about the theme), being the bibliographical revision the adopted
starting point for its practicality and objectivity.

Development
Part of our lives for a long time, that is, since the emergence of the human race and its initial evolution in
civilizations, especially the Greek, education, philosophy, music and art have come to have a unique position in
the maintenance and expansion of the way of thinking of the time. Philosophy was already in the preambles of
our human formations and groupings, being gestated through the improvement of the physiology of the brain in
living in society. Music became part of rites of passage that began to be shaped by the systematization of human
groups. Also, as a natural and continuing form of entertainment in civic and religious celebrations and activities,
music was used to discipline minds in understanding the mathematical and cognitive functions that take place in
musical achievement, whether as a composer, a performer (the 'doer' of something) or even as the habitué. Such
habits have continued in our daily lives until the present and show us ways to think better, pass on acquired
knowledge, or test them in order to avoid, overcome or even transform errors - part of the learning process in any
sphere - perpetuating knowledge through the legacy of the cultural heritage of reasoning through total 'thinking'.
And today, the mention of global issues suggests a way in which philosophy can fruitfully collaborate with other
disciplines beyond music, such as environmental and exact sciences, economics, political science and law, as well
as the arts and any discipline that opens itself to it. Besides interdisciplinary collaboration, philosophy can
contribute to the examination of the foundations of a given discipline and its methodological, pedagogical, didactic
and interpersonal consolidations, locating it in space and time. In this context, the purpose of this article is to
review the referred bibliography and comment it, discuss about a possible interdisciplinary formation of man
through philosophy and music, raising questions and sharing ideas about the theme. It aims to provide information
and opinions of different authors as well as the importance of interdisciplinarity in the current Brazilian education
system with authors from different cultures and different eras. Also, we will try to discuss the importance of the
disciplines Philosophy and Music through a humanistic educational pedagogy that prizes for the being as a whole
in his formation and not only in the knowledge that he can obtain, his accumulation without a devolution to the
society and the formation of a "thinker" and a "performer / musician / artist", but above all of the human being.
Without the teaching of the Arts and the exploitation of the talents and multiple intelligences, those who learn,
those who teach, society, the planet, in short, everyone is at a loss. The Arts have the power to alert us, as soon as
possible, that the human being is a product of his environment, not only with music, but the entire learning process,
