Title
Utilization of kitchen water waste undergo the process of filtration as a substitute for growing hydroponics
indoor horizontal cylindrical farming
Filing Date
09/22/2022

Abstract
Through the years, people are advancing in anything, especially when it comes to technology. The
makers of technologies’ goal are to make human lifestyle easier for them-easier to work and live. We now live
in a world where cities’ house more than half of the world's population. Food demand is predicted to increase
by roughly 70%, raising food security concerns and straining current food systems. Freshwater scarcity will
continue to be a major limiting factor for improved food production under existing farming practices. Farmland
availability will become a major barrier around the world as demand for urbanization and residential
development grows to fulfill the needs of a growing population. Hydroponics can be a substitute for the natural
way of farming by using a water based system to provide the proper nutrient for plants instead of soil and
chemicals.

The concept of filtration of kitchen waste water may be a way to help the management of production
of water life to sustain adequate amounts of the residential and economic needs of water.

The main focus of the study is to innovate the process of Hydroponics by the means of domestic
kitchen water waste. Conservation of water life will highly be prioritized. This type of farming could be more
convenient to look after especially in urban areas in the Philippines, whereas production of soil is not
excessively distributed as well as the land that are designed for the use of home and not necessarily for
farming.

The mechanism involves: kitchen water waste serves as the nutrient provider for the plants; indoor
farming with the design of horizontally cylindrical to enlarge the amount of plants to be used. It is scheming to
be on a rotary cylindrical equipment with a container on the bottom part where filtered water moves to reach
every leaf.

Y JP2012100573A – Hydroponics system and hydroponics method

Inventors: Hiroki Sawada, Toshiya Saito, Yoshi Kudo, Takako Ono, Kayo
Yoshimatsu
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel hydroponics means which
can enlarge a harvesting part of a root of a root crop. SOLUTION: The hydroponics
system A for root crops includes: a cultivation tank 1 for storing a nutrient fluid W;
cylindrical parts 3 formed in the vertical direction within the cultivation tank 1; and a
level varying means 4 for varying the level of the nutrient fluid W within the cultivation
tank 1. Harvests of axial roots can be obtained by forming the cylindrical parts 3 in the
vertical direction within the cultivation tank 1. Furthermore, by varying the level of the
nutrient fluid W within the cultivation tank 1, the harvesting parts of the roots can be
sufficiently enlarged. For example, a settled planting structure 2 formed of a lightweight
member, floating in the nutrient fluid W is set in the cultivation tank 1, and by moving
the settled planting structure 2 downward, the level of the nutrient fluid W is varied. For
example, a linear member 43 is laid in the settled planting structure 2, and by taking up
the linear member 43, the settled planting structure 2 can be moved downward.

Y IN202141058600 – Apparatus for automatic composite machine based vertical
farming
Inventor: Andhra Pradesh
With the population around the world increasing exponentially and food
adulteration becoming a serious threat, there is an essential need to increase the natural
ways of crop and to increase productivity. Vertical farming is an emerging technology
that makes three-dimensional farming a reality. Hydroponics is one of its techniques
where plants are grown without soil. The major setback for vertical farming in the
market today is the artificially produced nutrient solution which acts as a medium for
plant growth. To overcome this limitation an apparatus is designed to automate the flow
of natural liquid fertilizer produced from biodegradable kitchen waste to the hydroponic
system using reprogrammable timers. This liquid acts as a medium for plant growth.
Once the compost liquid is ready and after a specific reprogrammed time, the water is
drained out automatically and a new load of nutrition solution from the composite bin
reaches the hydroponic stem. The drained-out nutrient-less water reaches the recycle
bin, which after processing can be used for other purposes like toilet flushing purposes,
thus saving water.

Note: Similarly in function and some parts, but different in kind of hydroponics used.
This project uses vertical hydroponics and water from kitchen waste. Their process of
filtering the kitchen waste can be applied in the project.
