: Describe SAMAL ISLAND in your own point of view.

In my point of view SAMAL ISLAND was just like apiece f stone thrown away that
found in Davao Gulf. This Island was just an Island until our ancestors found nor
discovered it, that’s why the island was initially called home for sama bajau people,
the natives who discovers and the first tribe who lived in the island. But somehow
unexpected things happened ,the Spain managed to conquer the SAMAL ISLAND
and later on because of the spanish who conquered our island, the SAMAL ISLAND
was set up as a municipality and became municipality on JULY 8,1948 by the virtue
of executive order no 151.signed by the late president ELPIDIO QUIRINO. Now
islands municipality was divided into three municipalities namely SAMAL DISTRICT
with 15 brgy’s ,BABAK DISTRICT with 16 brgy’s and the last is KAPUTIAN
DISTRICT with 15 brgy’s. These DISTRICTS and its jurisdictions is blessed with
their own unique, beautiful and natural spots that developed by the people and
became famous such as the coastline with white sand beache’s, abundant rock
formations and mountains. This island was also knows or best known to have an
abundant marine life and coral gardens that are unique and can only found in
SAMAL ISLAND alone. Now I can really say that this island has an ultimate tropical
gate away and deserve to be one of the seven thousand tropical islands in the
PHILIPPINES. Furthermore this island is now home not only for me, for sama
peoples but for everyone who wants to explore , find peace, have fun with their
families and to enjoy the nature in SAMAL ISLAND, To be more specific for me
SAMAL ISLAND is a home for everyone.

: Write about what you have learned about the History of Samal Island.

From the History of Samal island, I have learned that Samal Island was settled by
indigenous peoples. The Island was composed the identification of the now so called
sama tribes. This was also organized into communities ruled by many Datu’s. Each
municipality nor districts name derived from each different Historical tracings and so
with the barangays within their jurisdiction . I also learned that the Samal island was
initially home to sama bajau peoples. Later on the Spain managed to conquer the
island when the Nueva Vergara or Davao City today was established.

1. Since the day I was born until now that I am 22 years old.
2. The most interesting events and facts from the History of Samal Island was
during the world war II, the island was didn’t escape the tragic events of it,
resulting to the death of many of its inhabitants and destruction of much of its
place.
