WEEKLY LESSON PLAN


Subject: Science Grade Level: IV

Teacher: Dewi Wahyuningsih, S. Pd Date: August 8-12, 2022

WEEK 3
Objectives:  Differentiate between inherited traits and acquired traits and
give examples of each
 Understand how unique fingerprints are
 Recognize some diseases that can be inherited including their
symptoms and treatments.

Drill/Review:  Ask the students to play “Scoot” game. This SCOOT game
provides students with 15 examples of traits that are either
Motivation:The inherited or acquired traits. They must read the statement
and decide (quickly) if it is describing a trait that is inherited
or one that is acquired
 The students will be given the scoot answer sheet to decide
their answers.

Procedures/Executions: a. Prayer

c. Checking of attendance

 Remind the students that some traits are not inherited
from parents. Traits that are acquired after birth through
learning or experience cannot be passed from one
generation to another. Explain the students about the
differences between inherited and acquired traits.
 Ask the students to explore how unique fingerprints are,
by using an inkpad, let the students to put their
thumbprint one the same piece of paper and write their
name beside. Ask the students to put the same
thumbprint on separating paper without writing their
names. Teacher will collect the paper, shuffle them and
redistribute them randomly to the students. Ask the
students to find out whose thumbprint it is on the paper
that they received by comparing with those in the
common paper.
 Explain the students that Fingerprints cannot be
inherited, even family members do not have the same
fingerprints
 Inform the students that some diseases can be passed
down from parents to their young (inherited diseases)
such as: haemophilia and color blindness.
