(1) Torque for 14 full nuts ... 945 ± 35 N·m (697 ± 26 lb ft)

(2) Thickness of 7D-2878 Shim ... 4.45 ± 0.08 mm (0.175 ± 0.003 inch)

Note: See the steering system Testing and Adjusting, "Front Axle - Install and Adjust" in order to determine the thickness that should be installed.

Personal injury or death can result when working with the strut
rod.

Sudden release of the spindle from the strut rod or the snapping
of a bolt when removing the plate can result in injury.

Loosen all bolts one-half turn, working around the plate in a

circular pattern. Perform this again and again until the torque is
released for the bolts.

Note: Perform the steering system Testing and Adjusting, "Front Axle - Install and Adjust" before you install these bolts (3).

(4) Valve assembly (charging)

Installation torque for the valve ... 14 ± 1 N·m (124 ± 9 lb in)

Closure torque for the swivel nut ... 7 ± 1 N·m (62 ± 9 lb in)
Torque for the valve cap ... 2.5 ± 0.5 N·m (22.1 ± 4.4 lb in)

(5) As required, apply 8T-9014 Silicone Sealant prior to assembly.

(6) Torque for 10 bolts ... 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft)

(A) Outside diameter of the piston over two lands ... 201.17 ± 0.13 mm (7.920 ± 0.005 inch)

(B) Inside diameter of the tube ... 203.20 to 203.38 mm (8.000 to 8.007 inch)

(C) Inside diameter of the gland over three lands ... 178.18 ± 0.03 mm (7.015 ± 0.001 inch)

(D) Outside diameter of the rod ... 177.72 ± 0.05 mm (6.997 ± 0.002 inch)

(7) Fill the lower cavity with 7X-7664 Multipurpose Grease after assembly.

(8) Apply a coat of 4C-5593 Thread Lubricant before assembly with spindle.

Note: Approximately 12.8 L (3.38 US gal) of SAE 10W oil with the current service classification is necessary in order to charge a cylinder.

Note: If the front suspension cylinder is disassembled, reassemble the cylinder only in the vertical position.

Charging medium ... Dry nitrogen

Internal volume ... 13 L (793 in3)

Note: Use FT1680 Gauge Block in order to achieve the dimension for the full charge of oil and nitrogen. See Testing and Adjusting, "Suspension
Cylinder (Front) - Purge and Charge" for the charging procedure.
