Preah Vihear Temple

Hello, everybody! Thanks for watching my video. My name is NHEK Rathana. I'm a level 11
student studying English at ABI branch Om Bek Korm. This video, I am going to talk about one of
the greatest temples in Cambodia which is Preah Vihear Temple.

Preah Vihear Temple is located in Preah Vihear province, Cambodia. The temple's construction
began in the early 9th century by King Yasovaraman I, but most of the temple was built by King
Suryavarman I in the 10th century, and King Suyavarman II in the 12th century. So, this temple was
built by 3 kings from the 9th to 12th centuries. The material to build this temple is sandstone, rock
slabs, terracotta tiles, and bricks. It was dedicated to the God Shiva in his manifestations as the
mountain gods Sikharesvara and Bharesvara. In 2008, Preah Vihear Temple was listed as the world
heritage site by the UNESCO.

Preah Vihear Temple is located at the top of a steep cliff in the Dangrek mountain range which
is the natural border between Cambodia and Thailand. The temple is in Svay Chrum village, Kan Tout
commune, in Choam Khsant district of Preah Vihear province on the northern side of Cambodia. The
temple is 140 km from Angkor Wat Temple, 100 km from Preah Vihear provincial City, and 418 km
from Phnom Penh City. Preah Vihear Temple is an ancient architectural building on top of a mountain
in a remote area surrounded by forest. The temple is 625m above sea level. At the temple, you can see
the forest below which has fresh air around and a refreshing view. On cloudy days, you can see the
cloud below the cliff and it feels like you are in heaven.

Preah Vihear Temple is considered one of the masterpieces of Khmer architecture from the
ancient Khmer empire. The temple is a tourist attraction site due to the temple, the natural forest, and
the amazing view from the cliff of the mountain. The temple attracts most adventurous people who
want to explore something incredible. The temple is also a representation of Cambodia.

In conclusion, The temple was built to dedicate to the God Shiva. The temple is a tourist
attraction because of the impressive building, the amazing landscape and the surrounding
environment. My family and I are going to visit that wonderful world heritage landmark one day and I
hope everyone should go to visit to find out how great it is.
