Activity 1
Fundamental Counting Principle

I. Use the tree diagram to determine the answer for the following problem sets.

1. How many possible outcomes are there if a pair of dice is rolled?

1 (1,1) 1 (2,1) 1 (3,1)

2 (1,2) 2 (2,2) 2 (3,2)
3 (1,3) 3 (2,3) 3 (3,3)
1 4 (1,4) 2 4 (2,4) 3 4 (3,4)
5 (1,5) 5 (2,5) 5 (3,5)
6 (1,6) 6 (2,6) 6 (3,6)

1 (4,1) 1 (5,1) 1 (6,1)

2 (4,2) 2 (5,2) 2 (6,2)
3 (4,3) 3 (5,3) 3 (6,3)
4 5 6
4 (4,4) 4 (5,4) 4 (6,4)
5 (4,5) 5 (5,5) 5 (6,5)
6 (4,6) 6 (5,6) 6 (6,6)

Dice 1 (1,2,3,4,5,6) 6 x 6 =36

Dice 2 (1,2,3,4,5,6)

Answer: There is 36 Possible Outcome when pair of dice rolled

Answer: There is 32 total number of Classification of students.

II. Use the fundamental counting principle in answering each problem set.

1. In how many ways can a 10-question true-false test be answered if every question
must be answered?

 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 1,024
