Assignment 3.

1 Reaction Paper

The reading focuses mostly on urban sites development tactics such as housing,
sanitation, and transportation. The major purpose is to track progress toward specific
goals, such as building places for at least one hundred million slum dwellers globally. It
was one of the highest issues that needed to be addressed and resolved. Other problems,
such as climate-related difficulties, creative goals, and urban obstacles, are also explored
and targeted. According to Sharon Van Pelt, a director of Chemonics, collaborative and
cooperative planning is required to attain these objectives. Since Local governments have
the transformative power to understand and influence people's attitudes and actions
because of their proximity to inhabitants. Local governments need more political and
financial resources to implement new reforms and become change agents in areas such
as poverty alleviation, gender equality, and long-term infrastructure. As a result, the SDGs
enable policymakers, planners, civil society, and development groups to evaluate cities
themselves. According to the report, cheap housing, good sanitation, and improved
transportation build safe, resilient, and sustainable cities that affect all settlements and
areas. It will also stimulate economic growth, employment opportunities, safe open
places, and independence if all of these aims are realized.

The article helped me see things more clearly. I know how fortunate I am to have the
possibilities and fundamental requirements that I do, yet there are those who are still
denied these necessities. It is unfair and unjust personally since everyone deserves to
live a safe and secure life with basic necessities. If everyone has equal access to
opportunity, I am confident that the globe will have more progressive, reasonable, and
productive civilizations. I'm also considering my professional options and how I may aid
society in the future. My work as a student studying this particular profession must focus
on resolving urban issues by designing and constructing safe and sustainable areas that
are accessible to all and provide a high quality of life.
I gained more insight and comprehension after reading the article. And also aware of
existing issues which led to understanding that I may face them in my career and personal
life at some point. There were several new terminologies in the essay that piqued my
interest, so I went out and looked them up to learn more about them. As I became aware
of these aims and difficulties that I had not heard about or seen with my own eyes, my
worldly perspectives improved. Reading this post has provided me with a chance to
support and push for positive improvements and solutions that others may consider now.
So, by the time I'm in this position, where I can help and collaborate, I will try to contribute
some ideas and methods.

The significance of learning about these global issues serves as a wake-up call not only
to my peers and I but to everyone. The aforementioned issues indeed exist and are now
occurring, and they must be addressed and resolved. It encourages inequity. Nobody
should be left behind; everyone deserves the opportunity and chance to live a life that
meets their basic requirements, to work in a secure and sustainable environment, and to
live a life that is tailored to their talents and capabilities. We can build a more progressive
and inventive society in which no one is deprived of fundamental requirements or a
healthy environment.

The reading discussed both chances and obstacles that we may have encountered in the
big metropolis where people usually work, reside, etc. Metro Manila is a site where
advanced and disadvantaged areas coexist, and it must be balanced and solved to the
greatest extent feasible. The cities, for example, have terrible road surfaces, disorganized
transportation networks, and booths. It leads to traffic congestion and chaos among cars
and pedestrians. It also produces many types of pollutants, which are unpleasant and
dangerous for everyone. The remedy is straightforward: the local administration must
review and analyze the situation. It should be considered and planned out in detail and in
a timely manner.
To conclude, I observed that it revolves merely around the matter of every municipality’s
or city’s toxic political movements, which is why easy remedies aren't being implemented.
My ideas on this have always been about authoritarian power-tripping, in which the local
government will only have excellent governance when an election is approaching and
ending, but there will be no consistency in terms of developing and inventing the city.
They are constantly making excuses and delaying things, which causes everyone to
suffer. Everyone wants to see changes in their community; some have made tiny steps,
but it would be preferable if the authorities took the initiative because they have the
authority and resources. There will be a cooperative society if they can get started, and it
will act as an incentive and encouragement to construct a progressive, sustainable, and
inventive city.
