INTRODUCTION
FROM OUR FOUNDERS
Mekan Group of Companies was founded
in 2000, by myself Lekgari Mekgwe, Jose
Antunes. The name MEKAN was derived
from our two last names. MEKgwe and
ANtunes. Mekan Group of Companies is a
multi disciplinary group of four companies
,Mekan Engineering Services, Mekan
Civils, Mekan Facilities Management
and Project Management. Myself and
Sebenzile Bakubaku later founded Mekan
Engineering Services in 2003. We were later
joined by Vivian Shabangu and recently
Thapi Thoka.
When founding Mekan Engineering
Services we envisioned a company that will
serve as a trusted, long-term partner with
local and global communities.
We strive to transform communities,
companies, and the industrys’ landscape,
adopting dual roles as both caring neighbors
and innovative nation builders.
Since its foundation, the Company has built
a focused portfolio of high quality assets with
an attractive growth profile. We have built a

OVERVIEW
ABOUT US

Mekan Engineering Services is a 100% black owned Company founded in 2003. Mekan
Engineering Services (Pty) Ltd prides itself with its tremendous growth over the years with
a staff compliment of +/- 70 and the establishment of the following branches ; Alberton,
Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane, East London and a satellite office
in the Western Cape.

Mekan Engineering Services is a professional engineering consulting firm with extensive

collective experience within electrical , mechanical, wet and fire services and as well,
experience in building and specialized engineering services. We have since extended our
service offering and introduced other services that we are now rendering, civil and structural,
project and facilities management.

Our qualified professionals utilize a variety of design and performance tools, analytic software,
drafting, CAD, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to provide the analysis and using
REVIT drawing software for the ease of coordination to minimise/eradicate clashes on site
hence improve efficiency of installation.

Mr Bakubaku is a professional registered Mechanical Technician. He is one of the

co-founders of Mekan Engineering services. He has over 20 years of experience
and specializes in mechanical project management, project coordination and
design. His extensive experience is also within boiler designs, refurbishment and all
building mechanical related projects. He oversees the entire project management
matters within Mekan Engineering Services. He is also responsible for the day to
day running of the entire business i.e. client liaison, project management, financial
management, projects procurement. All branches report to him.

all the technical matters within the entire company.

Water, VRV and direct expansion systems. She is involved in contracting, auditing of
existing mechanical systems renovation and upgrading of existing installations. She is
oversees the entire mechanical department within the company.

BOITELO MOLAPO (BMS)

Mr Molapo has over 21 years in the electrical and electronics building services
industry. He has extensive experience within the commercial and retail sector. His
experience is within the broader spectrum of all electrical designs: fire and smoke

and data network system installations. He is responsible for the day to day running
of the Alberton office from project procurement, project implementation, execution
and maintenance.

documentation, drawings, bill of quantities, contract or project management. His
experience is within data network system installations, earthling installations, lighting
