LAB 05: Introduction to proteus software

Objective:
 To study how to construct circuit in Proteus.
 To study how to analyze a circuit and the different components used in proteus.
 To study how to simulate a circuit.

Tools:
 Proteus software.
 Computer to run the software.

Proteus:
The Proteus Design Suite is a proprietary software tool suite used primarily for electronic
design automation. The software is used mainly by electronic design engineers and technicians to
create schematics and electronic prints for manufacturing printed circuit boards.

Procedure:
To construct, analyze and simulate a circuit in Proteus. We need to follow the instructions
given below:

 First open the Proteus software. Then click on new project to open it.
 Now to place a component press p on the left side of the panel and a list of components
are shown on the screen. To select a component double click on the component name and
press ok. Then double click on the circuit to place the component.
 To find a component type the name of the component in the search bar.

To turn on a lamp using ac source:

 Press p to select the required components.
 Now search lamp and AC source and place it on board.
 Now connect the components through wires.
 To change the width and color of the wire right click on the wire and go to edit wire.
 Now to simulate the circuit press play button at the bottom left corner of the screen.
To turn on and off a lamp using switch:
 Add a switch to the circuit.

Varying the brightness of the lamp:

 Place DC source, a Potentiometer and a lamp.
 Then connect all of them using wire.
 Now to vary the brightness of the lamp change the resistance of the potentio meter while
simulation is running.

To turn on and off two different lamps using switch:

 Connect two lamps parallel and switches in series to the lamp.

Two way switching:

Measuring Voltage:

Measuring Current:

Instruments used:
 Multimeter: It can measure voltage, current and resistance.
 Function generator: It is used to produce different types of wave signals.
 Oscilloscope: It is used to display waves graphically on a display.
