Introduction : For this example, we have taken an organization, ABC Ltd which is a global conglomerate,
pioneer in Media and News industry. The organization has its offices globally with its head office in US
and another major branch office in UK. It also has its presence in APAC and LATAM regions as well.

High-Level Network Architecture Details

The following diagram explains the high-level network architecture details of the organization, ABC Ltd.

 ABC Ltd Network infrastructure has two Data Centers in Location 1 and Location 2, in US.
Location 1 is the Primary DC & Location 2 is the secondary DC.
 All DCs have Dual MPLS & Dual Internet circuits
 Century Link and Level 3 are the Service Providers in US & Level 3 and BT are the service
providers in UK
 Field offices are running over iWAN & DCs are having PBRs for controlling the traffic over the
two MPLS circuits
 DC-M1 and DC-M2 are mini datacenters, hosting few services like VOIP, ESX hosts and
NFS/Backup services
 All LAN environment in ABC Ltd. is running EIGRP and WAN is running with BGP as routing
protocol
 Riverbed WAN Optimizers have been deployed on all the DCs & Remote locations, except UK
Field offices.

Features:
 The DC LAN is 3 tier architecture: Core, Distribution & Access Layer.
 Currently, the Core layer consist of 4900 switches. This core will be migrated to pair of
Nexus 5306 switches, that are currently operational but for minimal number of VLANs
 WAN routers, Inter-DC connectivity routers & DMZ Environment are connected to the Core
switches
  Pair of Riverbed Interceptor devices are connected between Core switches & WAN routers
 Distribution Layer has separate pairs of Nexus 5K switches, with dedicated pairs of Fex
switches (Access Layer) for Prod, Non-Prod & Shared services.
 For Data replication between the DCs, separate VRF is provisioned in Distribution Layer
 F5, Riverbed, packet Broker & SAN are connected to the Shared Services Environment
 F5 is configured as gateway for all the servers which needs to be load balanced. Servers
which are not Load Balanced have the SVIs configured in DSTR layer, as gateway
 LLQ with shaping and marking is happening in the WAN routers in both inbound and
outbound directions
 UNUM Alpharetta is the secondary datacenter hosting few of the services like mail (offices
365), F5 VPN and Juniper SSL VPN for US UNUM.
 There are no OOB (Out of Band Management) deployed for network/security devices.
 DC-P, US is the workplace for corporate management employees
 DC-P, US is connected to DC using a pair of Cisco 6500 Switch pair, that connects to DC-P, US
DC Legacy Core.
 There is no sniffing solution in place in DCs.
 DC-S US, DC has identical setup as DC-P, US & both DCs work in Active-Active functionality.
DC-S, US also hosts the DR for few services from DC-P, US

Conclusion : The XYZ Ltd telecommunication and Network architecture provides exhaustive
infrastructure and provides technology backbone for organization successful business operations
meeting customers’ needs.

This study enabled me to understand how important is TeNure for MIS of XYZ Ltd.
