visual thing. When I was getting testing done to make sure that it was
indeed just cosmetic the MRI showed a few anomalies in my thoracic region
including a shortened vena cava and an extra fissure in my lungs. Both of
these in no way affect me physically. I wrestled throughout high school and
have always played sports and at no time have I ever had a problem, in fact
we never knew I had these issues because I was completely fine. When I go
to MEPS and if the doctors want medical records about the pigeon chest,
will he see that the MRI showed those issues, and if they do will that
disqualify me?

manifestations of psychological problems. If they detect it on your physical they will

examined by a mental health professional.
The reason for the disqualification is a simple one. You have to be able to transmit
commands and information in a clear, concise manner. You also have to be able to respond
verbally to commands and orders in the same way. If you cannot, you are disqualified from entry,
There have been waivers granted on occasion. I personally know of one chief petty officer
who was fluent in four languages besides English. The odd thing is he only stuttered
when speaking English. But, in the Navy Medical Department as an enlisted man and
an officer, he was a rare exception.

If you have sweaty palms, it may create a problem for you in medical examination which
happens after ssb interview for recommended candidates. Medical officer check palms to
make sure the candidate is not suffering from Hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is a condition
in which you may suffer from excessive sweating of the hands, feet and armpits etc.
To check for Hyperhidrosis, medical officer examines your plams, you may be asked for
closing your fist for sometime and later asked to grab a finger tightly in your palm. The
medical officer will try to free his finger from your palm, and if it happens easily, its because
your palms are sweaty and guess what, you may have sweaty palm. But don't freak out,
getting little amount of sweat on our palm is very common, but some of us actually have
Hyperhidrosis.
Not going much into medical terms, let me simplify this article, what all me need is a
cure for sweaty palm. Before going further, lets see some facts about sweating and sweaty

What are knock knees ?

Knock knees are deformities at the knee, in which knees of a standing person touches
each others but not the ankles. In other words, in a normal standing position, a person
with knock knees has gap between ankles but not between knees.

Most of the candidates are not
aware about the procedure by
which a medical officer check
knock knees, so they just keep
worrying by checking
themselves in different ways.
The correct way is to stand
simply and keep very little gap
(3 inches) between your ankles,
check whether your knees are
touching or not, even if it is
touching a little, it is just
normal. Real knock knees
problem won't let your ankles touch each other. Check the below picture for more clarity on this.

Treatment and Exercise for Knock Knees

Knock knees problems basically starts from childhood and gets cured by its own as we
start growing, but some of us do not get the proper development of bones which leads to
knock-knees. This problem won't let us to walk or run freely, which makes it a reason to
be unfit for Indian armed forces. Candidates with little knock knees can start exercising
and yoga to cure this problem, few of the exercise and treatments for knock knees are:
X Take vitamin D and calcium supplements, vitamin C supplements.
X Virasana, or hero pose, is effective in treating flat feet and knock knees.
X Keep a block between thighs and try to move your legs as close as you can, hold it
for 3 mins, keep repeating.
X In a standing position, bring the legs 4 feet apart and stretch the arms out to the
side. Turn the right toes to the right and deeply bend the right knee. Activate the
arches and keep the right knee touching the wall. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat
on the other side.

Ans: One can have flat feet
when the arch on the inside of
his/her feet is flattened, which
results in the entire sole of foot
to touch the ground during
standing position.

What are the cause

of Flat feet aka
Flat Foot
Ans: You may notice that a baby
born with flat feet, and with
time our feet developes an arch,
for some of us it may not develop
during childhood. Age, accidents
or injury can be one of the other
reasons for flat feet.

How to detect Flat feet aka Flat Foot

Ans: It is possible to detect just by looking at your feet or foot, which actually happens
during medicals. Medical officer may ask you to keep your toes on ground and lifting
your heel to certain level, from this he can check the amount of arch on your feet.

Wet Test: You can do the wet test at home:

1. Pour a thin layer of water into a shallow pan
2) Wet the sole of your foot.
3) Step onto a shopping bag or a blank piece of heavy paper.
4) Step off and look down

Results: There can be three different results:
1. Normal Arch: Your feet are normal so relax.
2. Low Arch: Can create some problem during medicals.
3. High Arch: Can be considered as a normal for medical point of view.
Treatment for Flat feet aka Flat Foot:
You can follow some exercise to reduce flat feet by increasing arch.
* Wear shoes which support arch.
* Keep your heels on tennis ball with big toes touching the ground.
* Lift your toes by keeping heels on ground, hold it for 10-15 seconds,
keep on repeating of 4-5 times.
* Sit and lift your right feet and touch the last toe finger of the left feet.
* At last consult a physician also.
Conclusion : In most of the cases one who gets TR for low arch (flat foot), clears it in
the review medical board. One with such case must do the regular exercise to reduce
the flat foot.

How do you calculate dental points?
Ans: Teeth which are not
considered necessary for
efficient mastication are
alloted ONE POINT each and
those essential TWO
POINTS each. For instance,
each incisor, canine, 1st and
2nd premolars will have a
value of one point provided
their corresponding lower
teeth are present.
Each 1st and 2nd molar and
well developed 3rd molar will
have a value of two points
provided they are in good
opposition to corresponding
teeth in the lower jaw. In the case the 3rd molar is
not well developed, it will have a value of one point
only. When all the 16 teeth are present in the upper
jaw and in good functional opposition to
corresponding teeth in the lower jaw, the total value
will be 20 or 22 points according to whether the 3rd
molars are well developed or not.
- Any 4 of the 6 anterior; and
- Any 6 of the 10 posterior.
The following teeth will be present in the upper jaw
and in good functional opposition to corresponding
teeth in the lower jaw:
Provided there are at least 14 dental points in the
mouth, all these teeth must be sound and repairable.
The minimum number of points required is 14.

Misplacement of an teeth will not be a
hurdle of your joining in Indian army.
Your teeth must be strong, natural and
sound.
For total 32 teeths total points will be 22.
You will be selected if you get minimum
14 points otherwise you will be rejected.
You should not have disease which is
named as pyorrhea.
