Instruction:

List all the possible PPE that a worker should wear given a scenario at a particular
workplace. Explain in your OWN words why each PPE should be worn by the worker.

Scenario:

A welder of a construction firm works on site. He is welding a scaffolding on the 3 rd

floor of a 5-story building. He works with other people that are working on other floors
below and above him. These other workers are grinding, chiseling, and hammering
different materials which create dust and other suspended materials in the air. The
workplace is also loud and different materials for scaffolding are protruding in the
area.

PPE REASON
1. Welding Helmets This PPE is important because It filters intense light and
that is produced during welding operations. And it can also
protect your face and eyes.
2. Class C Hard Hats This PPE is need specially in a construction firm works
with a 5-story building. Because there is a high possibility
that an object may fall to your head from other floor where
workers works.
3. Safety Glasses Welders wear this type of eye protection to protect their
eyes from heat, and flying debris during welding and
cutting.
4. Thumb Guards and This is used to avoid injuries, sharp or heavy object may
Finger Coats fall on your fingers or thumb that can cause permanent
injuries.
5. Steel toe Footware This PPE is used mostly on a construction site. Heavy
object may fall to your foot or toe so this will protect you.

6. Reinforced sole This is also important when working on a construction site.

Footware Nails and broken glasses on the floor may injure workers
so they used this to avoid injuries.
7. Sleeves and Aprons This PPE protects against heat and sparks and provides
lighter protection than leather. sleeves are pulled on over
the wrist to protect arms from flames and sparks
encountered when welding.
8. Googles Protects workers from Fumes and vapors that comes from
welding.

9. Leather Gloves Leather Gloves are designed to ensure that the welder's
hands are protected against electrical shock, intense heat,
infrared radiation, and physical cuts.
10. Metal Mesh Gloves They Prevent Cuts and Protect you from sharp edges.
Specially when your working in a construction site where
different workers have different works that can harm others
that doesn’t know the different tools used.
