Job Description:
1. Summary of Key Functions

 Assist and train farm workers on best practices regarding the livestock and farming to
improve the quality and quantity of their production.
 Provide guidance on how to correct issues that may limit productivity of livestock and
Poultry.
 Train project beneficiaries and workers on best layer farming livestock and poultry
management practices;
Check and regularly monitor Farm cleaning, disinfection standards and maintain higher
level of bio security standards.
 Conduct post mortem and prescribe the required medicine vaccine whenever require.
 Advice and take active part with regards to feeding, watering, vaccination, flak uniformity,
weighing and other activities of the farm.
 Regularly collect data regarding livestock and poultry production, productivity, feeding,
vaccination, medication and poultry diseases needed for the farm.
 Solve local technical livestock and poultry issues where possible and report on-going
problems including outbreaks of diseases and poultry mortality.
 Initiate and supervise capacity building and awareness raising of the related project
activities to the project participants including beneficiaries, community entities, and other
project stakeholders.
 Contribute to project activities through sharing experiences and his/her findings,
 Undertake any other task assigned by the supervisor.

2. Key relations:     

 Internal: Project Supervisor, Field Supervisors, Business Development Officer, Project


technical staff, Monitoring and Reporting Officer, and other CARE projects related staff.
 External: local authorities, beneficiaries and community members.

3. Duty Locations:

Kapisa, Paktia, Ghazni and Khost

4. Key Results Expected:

 Provide guidance and practical tools for establishment of livestock and poultry initiatives.
 Training of beneficiaries for growth of livestock and poultry to enhance income of
beneficiaries.
 Selection of best and profitable cow and pullets to increase the productions.
 Practical participation with beneficiaries and guide them how to grow up their livestock
and poultry.
  Prepare plans and closely monitor and supervise livestock and poultry activities.
 Distribution of livestock and poultry utilities to beneficiaries and follow up of them.
 Regularly collect data regarding livestock and poultry production, productivity, feeding,
vaccination, medication and poultry diseases needed.
 Provide reports, results and income of beneficiaries’ state.
 Have on time awareness from diseases of livestock and poultry.
 Conduct regular visits and maintain contact with other NGOs, Government and Private
sector working in the area.
 Contribute to new project concept based on the knowledge of the communities. Assesses
the needs in communities as required
 Collects data for the project periodic reports
 Provides updates and stories for CARE/ABADEI.

 
Job Requirements:
1. Competence:

Enthusiasm to the job, gender sensitivity, willingness to work in rough field conditions
and with local communities. Willingness to travel as per the project requirements, a self-
starter and well experience training and good communicator.

Core Competencies:

Community livelihood, livestock and poultry, veterinary.

Education: 

Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science/Veterinary Science.

Work Experience:

At least 4 years’ experience in relevant field of Livestock.

Languages Skills:

Excellent communication in both Dari and Pashto languages, reading and writing ability
in English
