Relation to Burnout during Online Classes

Working Introduction: (maximum of 5 sentences)

It is not uncommon for teachers to feel worn out, especially if they teach online. According to
the research findings in a study titled perception of teachers and students toward online
classes in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District (Kulal & Nayak, 2020), there is a lack of
proper training and development for conducting online classes, causing teachers to have
difficulty conducting them. In relation to this, in another study titled Teachers’ Burnout in
Online University Courses in the Time of Pandemic (Shlenskaya et al.), teaching via distance
learning for full-time university students during the coronavirus pandemic has influenced the
formation of professional burnout of university teachers. This research will describe how
teachers from Statefields School Inc., cope with burnout from teaching through online classes.
Coping is defined by Folkman and Moskowitz (2003) as managing the internal and external
demands of stressful situations, a concept that has been the subject of more than three
decades of research in the social sciences.

Research Objectives:

This study aims to identify and describe the coping behaviors among the teachers of
Statefields School Inc. in relation to burnout in teaching during online classes using the
Proactive Coping Inventory Scale (PCI) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI).

Research Questions: (minimum of 3)

1. What are the sociodemographic characteristics among the Grade School, Junior High
School, and Senior High School Teachers of Statefields School, Inc?
2. What are the coping behaviors among the Grade School, Junior High School, and
Senior High School Teachers of Statefields School, Inc
3. Which among the factors of coping behaviors among the Grade School, Junior High
School, and Senior High School Teachers of Statefields School, Inc is the most
commonly used coping behavior?
a. Proactive Coping
b. Reflective Coping
c. Strategic Planning
d. Preventive Coping
e. Instrumental Support Seeking
f. Emotional Support Seeking
g. Avoidance Coping
4. What are the levels of burnout among the Grade School, Junior High School, and
Senior High School Teachers of Statefields School, Inc?
a. Emotional Exhaustion
b. Depersonalisation
c. Lack of Personal Achievement

Methodology:

A descriptive analysis design will be used in this study to determine the coping behaviors of
teachers of Statefields School Inc. in relation to burnout during online classes. In this study,
burnout will serve as the independent variable and the dependent variable will be the coping
behaviors of the teachers.

Thirty teachers of Statefields School Inc. will be taken as respondents of this study.
Specifically, ten teachers will be taken randomly in the Grade School Department, Junior High
School Department, and Senior High School Department using Stratified Random Sampling.

Two instruments will be used in the study to identify the coping behaviors of Statefields
School Inc. teachers in relation to burnout during online classes, the Proactive Coping Scale
(Greenglass et. al., 1999) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach et. al., 2016).

The gathering of data is divided into two. The Proactive Coping Scale will be used first to
determine the teachers’ coping strategies. The Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale will be
conducted to determine the level of burnout during online classes that the teachers of
Statefields School, Inc. are experiencing. Aside from the Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale,
probing questions will be asked to the respondents to further determine and or identify the
source of burnout during online classes.

The results from the Proactive Coping Scale will be used to describe the coping behavior of
the teachers from Grade School, Junior High School, and Senior High School as subjects and
activities vary from each. The results from the Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale will be used
to describe the burnout level of the teachers from Grade School, Junior High School, and
Senior High School in teaching through online distance learning.

The statistical data gathered after conducting both scales will be used to describe the coping
behaviors of teachers from Grade School, Junior High School, and Senior High School of
Statefields School Inc. in relation to burnout during online classes.

12 Students of Statefields School, Inc: A Correlational Study

Working Introduction: (maximum of 5 sentences)

Choosing a college course plays a vital role in the future success of high school students
(Kumar, 2016). With this, many factors affect the student’s ability to choose a college course
such as skills, personality types, and parental influence. A study titled Relationship between
Personality Types and Career Choices of Undergraduate Students: A Case of Moi University,
Kenya (Kemboi, Kindiki, & Misigo) explained that individuals with low vocational identity are
more likely to lead to incompatible career choices and frequent career changes than a high
vocational identity.

Research Objectives:

This study aims to understand the relationship between personality types and career choices
of Grade 12 students. Furthermore, this study aims to determine the extent of personality
types as an influential factor on the career choice of Grade 12 students of Statefields School,
Inc. using a self-administered survey.

Research Questions: (minimum of 3)

1. What are the Sociodemographic characteristics of Grade 12 Students of Statefields

School, Inc?
2. What are the demographic characteristics of Grade 12 students of Statefields School,
Inc. in relation to career paths based upon personality types:

A correlational research design will be used in this study to analyze and establish the
relationship of personality types in decision making particularly in career choices of Grade 12
students in Statefields School, Inc. In this study, the personality types will serve as the
independent variables while the career choices of Grade 12 students will serve as the
dependent variables.
Thirty Grade 12 students of Statefields School, Inc. will be taken as respondents of this study.
Specifically, ten students will be randomly selected in each of the three strands of STEM,
ABM, and HUMSS selection, to make use of the fishbowl method.

One instrument will be used in the study to measure the relationship between personality
types and career choices of Grade 12 students. The instruments will have three parts. The
first part of the self-administered survey will contain the background information and the
college course choice of the respondents. The second part of the survey will be the Holland
Code and will be used as the main instrument to further understand and determine the
relationship between personality types and career choices of Grade 12 students of State fields
School. The third part of the self-administered survey will be the probing questions that will be
used to further explore how the respondents’ personality types affected their decision-making
in career choices.

A self-administered survey using Holland Code or most commonly known as the RIASEC Test
will be given to the respondents of the study to determine the career path based upon the
personality types of Grade 12 students of Statefields School, Inc.

Title:

The Relationship Between Sleep Quality and Academic Performance of Grade 11 STEM
Students School Year 2021-2022 of Statefields School, Inc.: A Correlational Study

Working Introduction: (maximum of 5 sentences)

Sleep quality is important as it plays a vital role in cognitive function (Pacheco & Rehman,
2021). Sleep is defined as a psychological behavior that is frequently practiced by all animal
species (Mandal, 2020), and it is indicated that most adults require an average of 7-9 hours of
sleep (WebMD, 2020). Academic performance, on the other hand, is correlated with test
results that parallel a students’ IQ (Martin et al., 2017). With this, cognitive performance has a
crucial function in education just the same as education is to the cognitive development of a
student.

Research Objectives:

This study aims to assess and analyze if there is a relationship between sleep quality and
academic performance of grade 11 STEM students in the school year 2021-2022 of
Statefields School, Inc. using the survey method.

Research Questions: (minimum of 3)

1. How long is the sleep cycle of grade 11 STEM students in a month?

2. Is there a significant effect of the length of sleep cycle on the academic performance of
grade 11 STEM students?
3. Is there a significant relationship between sleep quality and academic performance of
Grade 11 STEM students?
4. What is the strength of the relationship between sleep quality and academic
performance of Grade 11 STEM students?

Methodology:

A Correlational Study design will be used in this study to assess and determine the
relationship between sleep quality and academic performance of the Grade 11 STEM
students of Statefields School Inc. In this study, the different Sleep Qualities of the students
will serve as the Independent variables and the dependent variable will be the Academic
Performance of the Grade 11 STEM students.

A total of thirty students, composed of 10 students per STEM section, will be taken as
respondents for this study. The instrument that will be used to measure the sleep quality of
each of the respondents would be the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The Pittsburgh
Sleep Quality Index is used to evaluate one’s sleep quality based on a series of questions
developed by Buysse et. al. (1988). This instrument was initially used to assess patients who
were labeled as ‘poor sleepers’ and patients with sleeping disorders. However, several
studies have also used the PSQI to evaluate various types of individuals and have shown that
the said instrument is exceptional in evaluating self-perceived sleep quality and since then,
has been the most used instrument (Fabbri et. al, 2021).

The respondents will be asked to monitor their sleep quality for a month. After 30 days, a
survey will be administered to the respondents. The first part contains the personal
information of the respondents—Name and Section, the second part contains the self-rated
questionnaire from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI,) and in the third part, the
respondents' scores on all the assessments such as worksheets and exams that took place
on the last 30 days would be asked. The respondents' Global PSQI scores and scores on
their school assessments will be examined to determine the correlation between the sleep
quality and academic performance of students.

The statistical data gathered after analyzing the respondents’ corresponding PSQI and
academic assessment scores will be used to establish the relationship, if there is any,
between sleep quality and the academic performance of Grade 11 STEM students of
Statefields School Inc.
