Teacher’s name :Tr. Han Nyein Thu

Course : Year 3 Mathematics
Email : hannyeinthu@edusn.co.uk

Course Description: The course is dedicated to developing learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative
and engaged. It is designed to give learners the skills to problem solve effectively, apply mathematical knowledge and
develop holistic understanding of the subject.

Dignity | Self-Discipline | Respectful Behavior | Hard Work | Cooperation | Kindness

Integrity | Creative Problem Solving | Personal & Community Responsibility | Fairness |
Course Objectives/ Learning Outcomes:

General Objectives:
This course is set to prepare the students:

- To support for learners with investigations that allow freedom of thought and questions that encourage the learner to apply their
knowledge rather than just remembering a technique

- To encourage learners to speak during a math session in order to communicate, explain and try out ideas, develop correct use of
math vocabularies and develop mathematical thinking.

- To understand numbers and the number relationship

- To operate four basic operations well

- To use standard metric units and their abbreviation to estimate

- To understand the idea of comparing part to part (ratio) and part to whole (proportion)

Specific Objectives:

The students must be able to:

- understand numbers and number system including place value and properties of numbers

- add and subtract two-digit and three-digit numbers

Dignity | Self-Discipline | Respectful Behavior | Hard Work | Cooperation | Kindness
Integrity | Creative Problem Solving | Personal & Community Responsibility | Fairness |
-use standard metric units and their abbreviation estimate, measure and record the weight of different object

-tell the time to the nearest minute on digital and analogue clocks, covert time from analogue clock to digital clock

-find out the areas and perimeter of different shapes

-interpret data that is presented in tables and create tally charts and bar charts

-understand angels, position and direction

-develop greater understanding of fractions and the ways in which they can be used, including parts of a whole, a point on a number line or
as a division.

someone else’s work as your own.

GRADING Policies:
This course follows standards based grading practices to determine the student’s overall final grade that is recorded at the end of each semester.
Students will be evaluated on their overall proficiency of the high priority standards associated with this course. The teacher will evaluate student
work and assessments to determine their skill level and assign a score of 1-4 based on the scale below. The overall grade will be determined by
averaging the scores on the high priority standards.
Score Grading scale
41-Advanced
A:50-41
31-Proficient
B: 40-31

*NP=No Progress (Student will not earn credit for the course)

Parents and students will receive online access to their grades and can check them at any time.

MAKEUP EXAMS/RETAKES:
Students will be given multiple opportunities to demonstrate proficiency in the high priority standards. A makeup exam or retake will be given at the
discretion of the teacher. Requirements for makeup exams or retakes may include but are not limited to: teacher-parent conferences, teacher-student
conferences, attending tutoring, and/or completion of prerequisite work.

EXTRA CREDIT:
No extra credit will be given for this course. Student grades will be based solely on student mastery of the high priority standards.
