ALADDIN

o We will try to compare and contrast the significant differences between the 2
version of the movie “Aladdin”. We can say that in the start in the movie, we can
clearly see that the live action of the Aladdin had a more emphasized story than
the 1992 original. In the opening of the 2019 adaptation, they started in a boat
where a man is telling the story of Aladdin to his children that we can conclude
that Aladdin is just merely a legend and not a real person compared to the
original movie. In the original movie, they never explained how jasmine mother
died so people just had their conspiracy but in the live action, they told us that
her mother was murdered.

There is also a little change to the main character, in the original movie, Aladdin
always walked barefoot while in the 2019 movie, he wears a shoe.
They also removed the scene where jasmine run from the castle to defy his father,
she is in the market at the start of the movie in the 2019 adaptation. Jasmine is
pursued by the owner of the bakery when she offers a child some bread without
no way to pay for it. Jasmine is caught off guard when Aladdin suddenly
intervenes and asks whether she can trust him to save her.
Here, there are two adjustments. In the first movie, Aladdin at appears as
Jasmine's concerned brother looking for his mentally sick sister. This scene was
completely disregarded and reformed. They also added a new character in the
adaptation of the movie because Dalia didn’t exist in the animated version.

In the new movie of Aladdin, jasmine sang a new song “speechless”, when Jafar
orders her to keep quiet early in the movie, Jasmine performs the song. In
opposition to the belief that women should be seen and not heard, she sings the
song. At a crucial moment close to the movie's climax, Jasmine performs the
entire song. The animated Jasmine wanted to marry for love, not be paired with
someone in an arranged marriage, and escape the strict laws of Agrabah. The
new Jasmine is still required to view potential suitors for marriage, something
she dislikes, but she is more ambitious and asks her father why she can't just be
the next Sultan.

SICK ROSE (EVALUATION)

o Before we continue to my evaluation, let’s first analyze the poem “Sick Rose” by
William Blake. The rose symbolizes a woman in relationship with a man but her
love and life were completely shattered when she founds out that she is being
cheated by his husband and a mistress.

My expression and opinion in this poem is that the writer is trying to convince us
that even how bad and crucial a marriage can be, cheating is completely off
charts thus to be removed. This poem makes me sad because it reminds me
something that nowadays cannot be seen. In my perspective, people nowadays
normalized cheating if they are not happy with their loved ones and this makes
me feel sad and angry, we have to change the ways in our society because
everyone has the right to love and to be love. Loyalty is a very important factor in
a relationship, we have to conserve this.
