TEST QUADRILATERALS
MM 40 Time: 90 mins
Q1. If each pair of opposite sides of a quadrilateral is equal, then prove that it is a
parallelogram.
Q3. Prove that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram if a pair of opposite sides is equal and
parallel.
Q4. The angles of quadrilateral are in the ratio 3 : 5 : 9 : 13. Find all the angles of the
quadrilateral.
Q5. Show that if the diagonals of a quadrilateral bisect each other at right angles, then it is a
rhombus.
Q6. ABCD is a parallelogram in which P and Q are mid-points of opposite sides AB and CD
(see below Fig). If AQ intersects DP at S and BQ intersects CP at R, show that:
(i) APCQ is a parallelogram.
(ii) DPBQ is a parallelogram.
Q7. Show that if the diagonals of a quadrilateral are equal and bisect each other at right
angles, then it is a square.
Q9. ABCD is a rectangle in which diagonal AC bisects A as well as C. Show that:
(i) ABCD is a square
(ii) diagonal BD bisects B as well as D.
Q10. In parallelogram ABCD, two points P and Q are taken on diagonal BD such that DP = BQ
(see Fig.). Show that:
(i) APD CQB
(ii) AP = CQ
(iii) AQB CPD
(iv) AQ = CP
(v) APCQ is a parallelogram
Q11. Prove that The line segment joining the mid-points of two sides of a triangle is parallel
to the third side.
Q12. In ABC, D, E and F are respectively the mid-points of sides AB, BC and CA. Show that
ABC is divided into four congruent triangles by joining D, E and F.
Q13. ABCD is a rhombus and P, Q, R and S are the mid-points of the sides AB, BC, CD and
DA respectively. Show that the quadrilateral PQRS is a rectangle.
Q14. Show that the line segments joining the mid-points of the opposite sides of a
quadrilateral bisect each other.
Q15. ABCD is a rhombus and P, Q, R and S are the mid-points of the sides AB, BC, CD and DA
respectively. Show that the quadrilateral PQRS is a rectangle.
Q16. Show that the diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular to each other.
SECTION D (4 marks each)
Q17. ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB = AC. AD bisects exterior angle PAC and CD ||
AB. Show that (i) DAC = BCA and (ii) ABCD is a parallelogram .
Q18. Two parallel lines l and m are intersected by a transversal p. Show that the
quadrilateral formed by the bisectors of interior angles is a rectangle.
Q20. ABC is a triangle right angled at C. A line through the mid-point M of hypotenuse AB and
parallel to BC intersects AC at D. Show that
(i) D is the mid-point of AC
(ii) MD ⊥ AC
(iii) CM = MA = ½*AB
