What’s In

Heat is a form of energy like light, sound and electricity. It can be

transferred between objects. So, heat refers to this energy transfer between
objects, while temperature refers to the energy contained within the objects.
`In this chapter, we will learn the different sources and uses of
heat and how it can be used safely in our homes?

What is it?
The sun is the main source of heat and light. The heat and light from the
sun help plants and animals grow.
The sun is the main source of heat on earth. Burning wood, burning gas
and electrical equipment or appliances such as ovens and flatirons are of
sources of heat.
The sun helps in producing vitamin D. When one is exposed to the right
amount of sunlight especially in the morning, there is substance under the skin
that changes into vitamin D. Vitamin D helps in the proper development of
bones and teeth.
Heat is a form of energy. We use heat to warm ourselves. We also use
heat to cook our food we eat.
The heat is very important in our daily life. It has many usages in the
industry as making and processing the food we eat, manufacture of things we
use such as papers, textiles, and glasses.
The water cycle will not take place without heat from the sun.
