Introduction

70 years ago, 25th June 1950, North Korean Troops with Soviet Chinese that
have 75,000 troops invades South Korea. We are still wondering how the Filipino
expeditionary forces with the amount of only 900 troops managed to won against the
enormous forces of strong Chinese communist exceeding 40,000 troops. What is the
reason of the invasion to South Korea? What is the reason why the Philippines aided
the South Korea? And what are the miraculous things that the Philippines expeditionary
forces do to trigger their enemies to withdraw the battle?. In most history books and
stories of elders differs from each other. To avoid the confusion I choses to return to the
time when the Korean War or so called Yultong War happens(1950 – 1951) to be able
to answer the important questions by studying different historians and their works or
books regarding in this event. The purpose of this study is to learn what really happened
in the Korean War. I chose this topic because of its infamous statements that the others
dubbed it as “Forgotten war” Moreover It is also to make my study unique compared to
others focusing not just on the main events and war in a particular period but also to the
minor parts since I acknowledge the heroism that the Philippines showed even though
they still recovering from the scars that brought by the Imperial Japanese at that time.

I encoded this project in a bond paper to make it more visible and understandable for
the readers because I’m not too confident in my writing skills. Moreover it also for me to
quickly finish this project in a short period of time.
Body
In most history books, war remains a constant factor. Every country defended
and fought for its own, and others went out of their way to lend a hand. This was the
case of the Battle of Yultong in which the Philippines sent reinforcements and stood
alongside Korea against the force of Chinese and Korean Communist as they faced one
of their biggest crises in 1950 and still recovering from the scars that brought by the
Imperial Japanese forces during the Second World War.

70 years ago, 25th June 1950, North Korean Troops with Soviet Chinese that
have 75,000 troops invaded South Korea to capture its capital city, Seoul. They
successfully defeated the Republic of Korea’s army and successfully takes over the
whole Korea except the Pusan, Philippine President Elpidio Quirino urged Congress to
approve the Republic Act 573 to deploy 7,420 Filipino troops to the Korean Peninsula.
The Philippines Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK) bravely aided the unfamiliar
territory to help the South Korea against the combined forces of North Korea and the
Chinese People's Volunteer Army (PVA). For five years, the Filipino soldiers defended
their stations; and on April 22, 1951, they witnessed and fought for one of the greatest
victories in the Korean War, also known as the Battle of Yultong.
