WORK EXPERIENCE
Research veterinarian - 10/2021 to present. Kenya Snake Bite Research and Intervention Centre.
➢ Assists in snake venom extraction (Voluntary venom extraction technique) and lyophilizes
venoms from a group of about 90 venomous snakes.
➢ Does weekly routine check up and examination of snakes, manages any presenting clinical
cases.
➢ Immunizes various animal models, collects various samples from the same animals.
➢ Carries out preclinical studies- Venom lethality and efficacy of about 5 antivenins in the
market
➢ Whole venom fractionation and purification using the Akta pure 25- FPLC machine.
➢ Runs Gel Electrophoresis of the whole venoms and venom fractions.

Veterinary intern: 04/2019 to 04/2020 University of Nairobi- Dept. Of Clinical studies


➢ Performed at least 25 surgical procedures on both small and large animals.
➢ Diagnosed and managed at least 100 clinical cases on both small and large animals.
➢ Supervised final year students in their ambulatories, clinical theriogenology and internal
medicine rotations.
➢ Represented a group of 4 interns at the centre by writing quarterly reports to the
Directorate of veterinary services.
➢ Invigilated 5th year surgery continuous assessment tests and practical sessions.
➢ Did public health aspects for 5 weeks- inspected meat (pig, fish and ruminants), processed

➢ Collected a total of 500 cloacal swabs from chicken and duck.
➢ Obtained at least 500 faecal samples from poultry and dogs.
➢ Assisted other field officers on administration of questionnaires, collection of water and
soil samples.
➢ Assisted the lab technicians in processing of the human faecal samples and helminth
identification via the light microscope.

2019 to date- Constant volunteer during the Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) campaigns-
free sterilization, vaccination and deworming.
➢ Performs at least 10 neutering surgical procedures per campaign on both dogs and cats
➢ Performs anaesthesia and prepares the patients for the surgery.
➢ Administers Rabies vaccine and dewormers to dogs and cats.
17/01/2020-20/01/2020: Participated in the rabies and distemper awareness and
vaccination and sterilization Campaign in the Meibei community
Conservancy- Samburu County.
➢ Lead a team of 3 veterinarians in dog and cat vaccination, data inputting and stock
taking.
➢ Conducted a total of 10 neutering procedures on both dogs and cats.

Languages- proficient in English (writing and reading), Swahili and Luhya are the native
languages.
Communication Skills- I am able to communicate effectively and with ease owing to my
experience as an assistant teacher and as a veterinarian interacting with clients.

proteases from Bitis arietans venom against ischaemic reperfusion injury – a global
ischaemia model.

prevalence of Flea Allergy Dermatitis in dogs at a Security Company in Nairobi Area”
