Safety Tips Driving in Rain or Fog

Driving under adverse weather increases the potential of vehicle accidents. Heavy rain, fog, winds
reduce the visibility and increases braking distance. Always avoid driving under severe weather
conditions. If you are already on the road, follow these safe driving tips.

Rain and wet roads make it harder to start, stop and turn. Hard rain, fog and mist can also
make it more difficult to see. Use your headlights and taillights whenever you use your
windshield wipers. Daytime running lights are not sufficient.

Slow down as soon as the rain starts. Many roads are most slippery when rain first mixes
with road dirt and oil and forms a greasy film. If a road is slippery, your tires can lose
traction and your car can hydroplane.

If your vehicle starts to hydroplane, you’re driving too fast. Slowly step off the gas pedal.
Never hit the brakes or turn suddenly. You may lose control and skid.

Make more space between your vehicle and others. You need more space to stop your
vehicle. Be prepared to stop quickly and within the distance you can see ahead.

Keep your windshield wipers and window defoggers in good condition.

In fog, use your low beam headlights to reduce glare. And always use your turn signals

‫اﻟﻘﯾﺎدة ﻓﻲ اﻟظروف اﻟﺟوﯾﺔ اﻟﺳﯾﺋﺔ ﺗزﯾد ﻣن اﺣﺗﻣﺎﻟﯾﺔ ﺣوادث اﻟﺳﯾﺎرات‪ .‬اﻷﻣطﺎر اﻟﻐزﯾرة واﻟﺿﺑﺎب واﻟرﯾﺎح ﺗﻘﻠل ﻣن‬
‫اﻟرؤﯾﺔ وﺗزﯾد ﻣن ﻣﺳﺎﻓﺔ اﻟﻔرﻣﻠﺔ‪ .‬ﺗﺟﻧب داﺋ ًﻣﺎ اﻟﻘﯾﺎدة ﻓﻲ ظل اﻟظروف اﻟﺟوﯾﺔ اﻟﻘﺎﺳﯾﺔ‪ .‬إذا ﻛﻧت ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟطرﯾق‪ ،‬ﻓﺎﺗﺑﻊ‬
‫ﻧﺻﺎﺋﺢ اﻟﻘﯾﺎدة اﻵﻣﻧﺔ ھذه‪.‬‬

‫ﻓﻲ اﻻﺟواء اﻟﻣﻣطرة و اﻟطرق اﻟرطﺑﺔ )اﻟزﻟﻘﺔ( ﻣن اﻟﺻﻌب اﻧطﻼق اﻟﺳﯾﺎرة وﺗوﻗﻔﮭﺎ و اﻟﻣﻧﺎورة ﻓﯾﮭﺎ‪.‬‬
‫ﯾﻣﻛن ﻟﻸﻣطﺎر اﻟﻐزﯾرة واﻟﺿﺑﺎب أن ﺗزﯾد ﻣن ﺻﻌوﺑﺔ اﻟرؤﯾﺔ‪ .‬اﺳﺗﺧدم اﻟﻣﺻﺎﺑﯾﺢ اﻷﻣﺎﻣﯾﺔ واﻟﺧﻠﻔﯾﺔ ﻛﻠﻣﺎ‬
‫اﺳﺗﺧدﻣت ﻣﺎﺳﺣﺎت اﻟزﺟﺎج اﻷﻣﺎﻣﻲ‪ .‬أﺿواء اﻟﺑﻠوﺟﻛﺗر ﻟﯾﺳت ﻛﺎﻓﯾﺔ‪.‬‬

‫ﺧﻔف اﻟﺳرﻋﺔ ﺣﺎﻟﻣﺎ ﯾﺑدأ اﻟﻣطر‪ .‬ﻛﺛﯾر ﻣن اﻟطرق ﺗﻛون زﻟﻘﺔ ﻋﻧدﻣﺎ ﯾﺧﺗﻠط اﻟﻣطر ﺑﺎﻷوﺳﺎخ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟطرق‬
‫واﻟزﯾت وﯾﺷﻛل طﺑﻘﺔ دھﻧﯾﺔ‪ .‬إذا ﻛﺎﻧت اﻟطرﯾق زﻟﻘﺔ ‪ ،‬ﻓﻘد ﺗﻔﻘد إطﺎرات ﺳﯾﺎرﺗك اﻻﺣﺗﻛﺎك ﻣﻊ اﻟﺷﺎرع‬
‫وﯾﻣﻛن ﻟﺳﯾﺎرﺗك أن ﺗﺑدء ﺑﺎﻻﻧزﻻق‪.‬‬

‫إذا ﺑدأت ﺳﯾﺎرﺗك ﺑﺎﻻﻧزﻻق‪ ،‬ﻓﺄﻧت ﺗﻘود ﺑﺳرﻋﺔ ﻛﺑﯾرة‪ .‬اﺑدأ ﺑرﻓﻊ رﺟﻠك ﻣن دواﺳﺔ اﻟﺑﺎﻧزﯾن ﺑﺑطﺊ‪ .‬وﻻ‬
‫ﺗﺿﻐط ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻔراﻣل أﺑدًا أو ﺗﻐﯾر اﺗﺟﺎه اﻟﺳﯾﺎرة ﻓﺟﺄة‪ .‬ﻗد ﺗﻔﻘد اﻟﺳﯾطرة واﻻﻧزﻻق‪.‬‬

‫اﺗرك ﻣﺳﺎﻓﺔ أﻛﺑر ﺑﯾن ﺳﯾﺎرﺗك واﻵﺧرﯾن‪ .‬أﻧت ﺑﺣﺎﺟﺔ إﻟﻰ ﻣﺳﺎﻓﺔ أﻛﺑر ﻹﯾﻘﺎف ﺳﯾﺎرﺗك‪ .‬ﻛن ﻣﺳﺗﻌدًا‬
‫ﻟﻠﺗوﻗف ﺑﺳرﻋﺔ وﻓﻲ ﺣدود اﻟﻣﺳﺎﻓﺔ ‪ ،‬ﯾﻣﻛﻧك أن ﺗرى ﻣﺎ اﻣﺎﻣك‪.‬‬

‫ﺣﺎﻓظ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺎﺳﺣﺎت اﻟزﺟﺎج اﻷﻣﺎﻣﻲ وﻣزﯾﻼت اﻟﺿﺑﺎب ﻓﻲ ﺣﺎﻟﺔ ﺟﯾدة‪.‬‬
