1) Describe the political cartoon briefly. What is the story being told by the image?
- The picture depicts a native child being thrown off a cliff with the words "to
Spain" written on it as the rest of the world watches. As we can see, the
elderly man holding the child is a leader who has the power to either keep
or throw the native child off a cliff.

2) What is being represented by the (a) globe, (b) the cliff, (c) the native child, and
(d) the man?
- The world is represented by the globe, and Spain, which colonized the
Philippines, is symbolized by the cliff. The man represents US President
William McKinley, while the native child stands in for our nation, the
Philippines.

3) What does this image say about the Philippines, the United States, and Spain?
- The artwork depicted the three countries' status during the height of their
wars. For instance, the United States was able to buy the Philippines from
the hands of Spain and, afterwards, defeat and kill off over 20,000
Filipinos. Spain, on the other hand, was not cut short by power. Like the
previous country, they were able to rule the Philippines for a very long
period--signifying the gravity of their abilities. In contrast with these two,
the Philippines fought for its independence, which was only attained after
the wars between the US and Spain.
