CONCLUSION

Mass movements
bulk movements of soil and
rock debris down slopes in response to the pull of gravity
Also called mass wasting
Rockfall
pieces of rock travel downward through some combination of falling,
bouncing, and rolling after they are initially separated from the slope
Landslide
Large or chunks of rock, soil, and debris down a slope due to gravity.
Rotational Slip
Variety of landslide characterized by movement along a concave-up failure
surface
Transitional Slide
downslope movement of material that occurs along a distinctive planar surface
of weakness such as a fault, joint or bedding plane
Sediment Flow
occur when sufficient force is applied to rocks and regolith that they begin to
flow down slope
Slurry Flow
a moving mass of sediment saturated in water that is transported with the
flowing mass
(WATERY)
Solification
Produces distinctive lobes on hill slope
Occur in areas where the soil remains saturated with water for long period of
time

Debris flow
Occurs at higher velocities than solifuctionResults from heavy rain causing
saturation of the soil and regolith with water
Mud flow
Highly fluid and high velocity mixture of sediment and water
Consistency of wet concrete
Granular Flow
flows are not water-saturated, but rather are supported by grain to grain
contact.
(DRY)
Creep
Very slow usually continuous movement of regolith down slope
Earthflow
Sheet or stream of soil and rock material
They usually remain active for long period of time
They generally tend to be narrow tongue like feature that begin at a scarp of small
cliff
Grainflow
Usually form in relatively dry material
Such as Sand dune on a steep slope
Debris avalance
High velocity flow of large volume of mixture of rock and regolith
They are often triggered by earthquake and volcanic eruption
