Lesson Objectives/Standards:
● 4.1.2.F Science as Inquiry per grade level indicators. (Use simple equipment (tools and
other technologies) to gather data and understand that this allows scientists to collect more
information than relying only on their senses to gather information.)
● SWBAT use various tool to measure and weight pumpkins
● SWBAT use data collected to make predictions
Instructional Materials:
Introduction:
● We’ve learned a lot over the last week. We’re going to look back at what we thought we
knew and what we know now today.
LESSON PLAN
Development:
● Daily task: observe pumpkin seeds and give students a few minutes to note any
changes.
● Teacher will review basics with class
● Students should write what they learned on the last page of their science notebook
using full sentences.
● Students should go back to page 1 of their notebook and see if their prediction was
right.
Closure
● You’re now experts on pumpkins. When you see them around or used for something, share
what you’ve learned!
Assessment:
Science notebook page +/-
Unit test - graded
Accommodations / Differentiation:
Teacher will read the test to the entire class.
Students who need assistance may work in a small group with/without teacher assistance
