NARRATIVE REPORT

In order to adapt on a new normal in education, the Science Department of Benigno Aquino Jr. High School
conducted a Learning Action Cell as one of the schools’ responses. With the topic Cornell Notes and Research
discussed by Ms. Annarose and Mr. San Diego respectively, both from the Science department of the said
Institution, a healthy discussion has been made.

Note taking stimulates one,s critical thinking. It helps students remember what is being said in the class and a
good set of notes can help students work on assignments and prepare for tests outside of the classroom. By
having a good notes, organizing and processing of data become easier and the recall is lighter.

Cornell Notes meant to be easily used as a test study guide. It has four (4) major parts: 1. Lesson Details
which contain the condense informant and the relation in other areas of the course; 2. Cues that contain the key
word/s or questions that help our brain remember things; 3. Responses which has the full content of what must
be remember during discussion, and 4. Summary that summarizes the learnings for the whole topic.

Ms. Annarose Anastacio discussed Research – Types and Characteristics. The two main types are Basic and
Applied Research. Basic Research investigates the basic reason and principle behind the occurrence of a
particular phenomenon. Applied research on the other hand aims at finding solutions to pressing problems by
employing well-known theories and principles. It is further classified into either traditional research which
provides explanations in the form of theories and practices with 1. Title page, 2. Abstract, 3. Introduction, 4.
Methods, 5. Results, 6. Discussion and 7. References as its format, and Action research that is designed to
diagnose problems and weaknesses and help educators to develop practical solutions to address the quickly and
efficiently.

The session started with a prayer led by Mrs. Leby A, Sarabia and is followed by a Nationalistic Song led by
Ms. Nayve. In order to tune up the attendees for the day, a food for thought was delivered by Ms. Serrano that
reminds us some vitalities on life. To awake our senses, Ms. Guzman lead an energizer where the attendees act as
a human sized fist on a “rock, pen and scissor” game. Then the delivery of topic was held.

The attendees for the said session are Annarose R. Anastacio, Mary O. Frias, April C. Guzman, Lyzbeth N.
Ledesma, Arnelia T. Nayve, Leby A. Sarabia, Paul Edison San Diego, Imee O. Serrano, Elveria J. Tiongco, and
