Job Description:
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Employable Skilled and Inclusive Workforce (ESIF) is a three year program of MC, funded by Swedish
International Development Agency (SIDA). MC is implementing this three-year program in four provinces
(Kabul, Parwan, Helmand, Kandahar), and is planning to scale it up to additional provinces where there is
high numbers of returnees. In this context, a feasibility study was conducted by MGTWELL Consulting
Services for scaling up ESIF program and exploring demanded emerging sectors and evaluating its
potential and demand in the proposed target provinces namely Kabul, Parwan, Nangarhar, and Herat.
Emerging sectors were identified through this feasibility study and through key informant interviews with
the respective Ministries and key stakeholders from public and private sectors, and in light of the
workforce needs of the government and its National Priority Programs.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Market Linkage Assistant will be responsible for ensuring to provide proper support and linkages
between the graduates and the market actors in terms of setting up businesses and identify the right
market for their products. The position will report to the Market Linkage Coordinator in Kandahar.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop a constructive relationship with target groups and businesses throughout target
provinces and surrounding districts;
Advertise post-graduation support activities;
Compile a list of those graduates who show interest;
Monitor the progress of businesses, updating the database and being a link person for
providing information to graduates about market opportunities;
Provide follow up services to each business to track their economic status once post-
graduation is completed;
Conduct regular monitoring and provide logistical support in arranging businesses fares;
Assist Market Linkage Coordinator with any other activity;
Carry out a mapping of potential employees employment opportunity;
Prepare field trip;
Promote and adhere to the principles and objectives of Mercy Corps;
Adhere to all Mercy Corps administrative procedures and policies;
Liaise with and support key program staff to ensure that programs are running effectively
and making the best use of project resources;
Facilitate professional communication and linking between graduates;
Follow up with graduates and collecting information of the graduates on the progress of post-
graduation;
Inform and update graduates in market demand and new design;
Strong coordination with MEL team about a successful story of graduates;
Get feedback from the graduates during the communication and passing it to the program
team for the better implementation and design of future programs;
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Must be able to work independently and show initiative; two years’ experience in market; Report writing;
ability to make recommendations for improvement; strong computer (MS Office), filing, and organizational
skills; excellent spoken and written English; willingness to travel throughout the project areas in the target
City and Districts
