Being polite means being aware of and respecting the feelings of other people. There are many ways to
express your politeness. For instance, remember to say “thank you” whenever someone helps you or
“sorry” when you bumped into somebody accidentally. Your way of choosing outfits is also a good
example of being polite. Specifically, you should dress in black whenever you attends a funeral to show
your respect and courtesy to the dead and their family. Besides, you should be well dressed when you
are present at a wedding so that people can see you are a considerate and polite person. Another
typical instance is being well-behaved in a dinner table. To be more obvious, make sure not to talk with
your mouth full of food. A full of food mouth is unpleasant to see and unable for others to hear what
you say. Also, never come to the table with your unwashed hands and uncombed hair. In conclusion,
politeness includes behaving in appropriate manners and showing other people respect.

It is commonly said that “respect others and they will respect you” therefore, politeness is considered to
be a key factor that creates the characteristic and core value of human beings from our early stage of
life. From my perspective, people without showing politeness to others are not worth respecting. Firstly,
politeness is behaving and maintaining proper etiquette and speaking properly to a person without
offending. Additionally, being courteous is a reliable sign of a well-educated and well-mannered
individual, respectful people will be treated kindly and generously while those who appear to be rude or
impolite might be disrespected or worse isolated. Most importantly, human societies have been built on
good conduct, social norms and defined etiquette. Without them, the world would probably turn into
chaos. Furthermore, there are a plethora of ways for people to show respect for others and they are
expected to do so anywhere anytime. For instance, young people should offer their seats to the elderly
on public transport or gentlemen should open doors for ladies. Students can express their courtesy to
teachers through attentive listening and active engagement in the lesson. At home, children can be
polite to older family members by lending them a hand or taking part in doing chores. As a result,
politeness makes people different from other animals. I believe that politeness is an indispensable and
invaluable personality of a civilized person, this will render people’s communication to a positive and
happy way.
