Cicero famously orated against his political opponent Lucius Sergius Catilina.

Occasionally the first

Oration against Catiline is taken for type specimens: Quo usque tandem abutere, Catilina, patientia
nostra? Quam diu etiam furor iste tuus nos eludet? (How long, O Catiline, will you abuse our
patience? And for how long will that madness of yours mock us?)

Cicero's version of Liber Primus (first Book), sections 1.10.32–3 (fragments included in most Lorem
Ipsum variants in red):

The Latin scholar H. Rackham translated the above in 1914:

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was
born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the
great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or
avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue
pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone
who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain,
but occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some
great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise,
except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man
who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a
pain that produces no resultant pleasure?

Warning!!! Do not do it. Hard pass

This is a very toxic work work place. The current mgnt AT BOTH LOCATIONS
(DC & VA) are unsupportive & do not know how to handle CS issues. They
pass the buck. They are lucky to have designers who are experienced & who
know how to handle their clients as best as they can. There is so much focus
on selling but do not take the time to cultivate loyal customer relations. The
designers are often stressed & have no quality of life. Plan to work over 50 hrs
but managers do not! No yearly reviews either! Lots of favoritism. No
guidance & encouragement to grow. Managers & upper regional managers do
not support the staff fairly. Beautiful showrooms but lack luster product. Not
worth the money. What was once a wonderful place to work is now a toxic
workplace. Be careful. Wolf in sheep's clothing!
