Activity 5: The Impact!


Research more about the harmful effects of tobacco. Create a plaque card that shows warning
and prevention of tobacco or smoking.

1. R.A. No. 10354

The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012

- The State recognizes and guarantees the human rights of all persons including their right
to equality and nondiscrimination of these rights, the right to sustainable human
development, the right to health which includes reproductive health, the right to
education and information, and the right to choose and make decisions for themselves in
accordance with their religious convictions, ethics, cultural beliefs, and the demands of
responsible parenthood.

2. R.A. No. 9211

Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003

- It is the policy of the State to protect the populace from hazardous products and promote
the right to health and instill health consciousness among them. It is also the policy of the
State, consistent with the Constitutional ideal to promote the general welfare, to
safeguard the Interests of the workers and other stakeholders in the tobacco industry. For
these purposes, the government shall institute a balanced policy whereby the use, sale,
and advertisements of tobacco products shall be regulated in order to promote a healthful
environment and protect the citizens from the hazards of tobacco smoke, and at the same
time ensure that the interest of tobacco farmers, growers, workers and stakeholders are
not adversely compromised.

3. R.A. No. 9165

Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002

- It is the policy of the State to safeguard the integrity of its territory and the well-being of
its citizenry particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs on their
physical and mental well-being, and to defend the same against acts or omissions
detrimental to their development and preservation.

Consumer Act of the. Philippines
- It aims to protect consumers against hazards to health and safety, protect consumers
against deceptive, unfair and unconscionable sales acts and practices, provide information
and education to facilitate sound choice and the proper exercise of rights by the
consumers, provide adequate rights and means of redress.
5. R.A. No. 9512
National Environmental Awareness and Education Act, 2008
- This Act provides for the promotion of environmental awareness through environmental
education which shall encompass environmental concepts and principles, environmental
laws, the state of international and local environment, local environmental best practices,
the threats of environmental degradation and its impact on human well-being, the
responsibility of the citizenry to the environment and the value of conservation,
protection and rehabilitation of natural resources and the environment.
6. R.A. No. 8423
Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act (TAMA) of 1997
- This Act shall be known as the “Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act (TAMA) of
1997.” Section 2. It shall also be the policy of the State to seek a legally workable basis
by which indigenous societies would own their knowledge of traditional medicine.
7. R.A. No. 8504

Philippine AIDS Prevention and Control Act of 1998

- The State shall promote public awareness about the causes, modes of transmission,
consequences, means of prevention and control of HIV/AIDS through a comprehensive
nationwide educational and information campaign organized and conducted by the State.
Such campaigns shall promote value formation and employ scientifically proven
approaches, focus on the family as a basic social unit, and be carried out in all schools
and training centers, workplaces, and communities. This program shall involve affected
individuals and groups, including people living with HIV/AIDS.

8. R.A. No. 7719

National Blood Services Act of 1994

- It is hereby declared the policy of the State: to promote and encourage voluntary blood
donation by the citizenry and to instill public consciousness of the principle that blood
donation is a humanitarian act; to lay down the legal principle that the provision of blood
for transfusion is a professional medical service and not a sale of a commodity; to
provide for adequate, safe, affordable and equitable distribution of supply of blood and
blood products; to inform the public of the need for voluntary blood donation to curb the
hazards caused by the commercial sale of blood; to teach the benefits and rationale of
voluntary blood donation in the existing health subjects of the formal education system in
all public and private schools, in the elementary, high school and college levels as well as
the non-formal education system;

Seat Belts Use Act of 1999

- It is hereby declared the policy of the State to secure and safeguard its citizenry,
particularly the passengers and drivers of private and public motor vehicles, from the
ruinous and extremely injurious effects of vehicular accidents. Towards this end, the
State shall pursue a more proactive and preventive approach in order to secure the safety
of the passengers and drivers at all times with the mandatory enforcement of the use of
seat belt devices by the drivers and front seat passengers of private and public motor
vehicles.

10. R.A. No. 10175

Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012

- The State recognizes the vital role of information and communications industries such as
content production, telecommunications, broadcasting electronic commerce, and data
processing, in the nation’s overall social and economic development. The State also
recognizes the importance of providing an environment conducive to the development,
acceleration, and rational application and exploitation of information and
communications technology (ICT) to attain free, easy, and intelligible access to exchange
and/or delivery of information.
