Tromsø is a city in northern Norway and an important cultural
center on the Arctic Circle. It is known as an observation point for
the Northern Lights that sometimes illuminate the night sky. The
historic city center, on the island of Tromsø, is distinguished by its
centuries-old wooden houses. The Arctic Cathedral, built in 1965,
has a distinctive pointed roof and tall stained-glass windows, and
dominates the skyline of the city.
