Objectives
When you have successfully completed this lab, you will be able to:
 Use the backup and restore function
 Partition a hard disk
 Install software on the Console Computer
 Load firmware software using the application software (Hardware Test program)
 Load firmware using the firmware loading tools (Xilinx, AVR)

Introduction
Software load lab assignment provide students hands on experience on complete software
installation on console computer.

Procedure Preview
In this lab exercise, the learner will learn how to,
 Perform System Backup (backup can include: system calibrations, settings, protocols …
etc.)
 Install system OS and scanner software (not only application will be installed also
backup recovery tool and other desktop items)
 Restore System Backup and parameters
 Verify System Operation and License Key
 Configure RSN
 Program boards firmware

Special Instructions/Precautions

You are required to read and understand the software installation instructions manual
before proceed with the software installation.>

<Warning:
Always perform a backup before reinstalling the software>

Instructions
1. Backup / Restore
a. Use Backup / Restore utility to make a backup of the system

Question:
How much space is needed for the backup?

Is the backup size always the same? If no, why?

2. Configuring a system disk


Question:
How many physical disks do we have in the console computer?

How many partitions do we create for the system?

What are the sizes of the partitions and what are they used for?

3. Loading Console Software
a. Load the software according to the Software Installation Manual
b. Restore system parameters using the backup
c. Verify the software and license key

4. Firmware loading via Application Software


a. Use the service tools in the application to load firmware on
i. Baseboards
ii. Data Receiving Card

5. Firmware loading using the service software (Xilinx, AVR) on FSE service laptop
a. Use the system software to load the firmware on a baseboard using
i. Xilinx
ii. AVR
