WELCOME BACK
"OUR LESSONS COME FROM THE
JOURNEY, NOT THE DESTINATION."
Dear Day Creek families,
I hope this letter finds all our families in a state of
relaxation and good health. I was blessed to spend time
surrounded by beauty this summer as I traveled to Bryce
Canyon, Utah, and King's Canyon, CA. I was able to relax
and get ready for the new year. I have great excitement
and anticipation for this 2022-2023 school year. I look
forward to a year with no restrictions, full parent
engagement, and many fun activities for our students. Our
motto of Failure is Not an Option has genuinely been lived
out by our students, families, and teachers. The pitfalls,
hurdles, and barriers we have all experienced have not
deterred our teachers from creating safe and engaging
environments, our families from supporting our students
and school, and our students from growing in their
academic and social-emotional skills. Over the last 2 1/2
years, there have been many times where we might have

felt defeated, unsuccessful, and wanted to give up.
However, together, despite our differences, we did not let
failure become our narrative. We choose to demonstrate

our strength, grit and resolve. Consequently, we are
stronger!
The 2022-2023 Etiwanda School District theme is
Wonder, Explore, Discover. Our staff is working diligently
this summer to create a welcoming and safe learning
environment that will promote higher levels of learning
and engage our students in the learning process.
I want to welcome our new families to Day Creek and
welcome back our returning families. I encourage all our
families to stay connected and take advantage of our many
engagement opportunities. Please consider following us
on Instagram and Facebook. Additionally, we have a new
website and are working to make this a one-stop shop for
information, forms, and other essential items. Our PTSO is
a great way to get involved, and they will be available
during Back to School Night for sign-ups. We will
continue to offer family education and engagement nights
throughout the year. Lastly, parents can always stay
connected through the Remind App and Aeries Parent
Portal. I am confident that this will be a fantastic school
year. Don't hesitate to contact the front office if you have
any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming school
year. You will receive more emails from the district and
the school soon. Please be sure to monitor your email for
important reminders.
Sincerely,
David Apodaca, Principal
