EL

PRESIDENTE
“We are no longer insurgents; we are no longer

revolutionists; that is to say, armed men desirous

of destroying and annihilating the enemy.

MA.MAVEL C. MONTEDERAMOS
El Presidente is a historical Filipino Movie about the life of
the Philippine Republic's first president. The story focuses on
the life of General Emilio Aguinaldo, who was elected by
Katipunan leaders led by Governor Jeorge "ER" Estregan.
The story tells me about Emilio Aguinaldo's life and the
hardships he faced while fighting against Spanish colonization
in the Philippines, as well as how he joined KATIPUNAN
and took the name MAGDALO.
General Emilio Aguinaldo's childhood is depicted in this film,
when he worked as a tax collector with his friend and met a
fortune teller who told him what he would become in the
future, telling him that he would become king of his country
and live a long life, but there is also a warning to him that his
life as President would be filled with many circumstances.
Many of them will attempt to usurp his position as President
of the Philippines and colony commander.
The film also portrays Emilio Aguinaldo's efforts for the
freedom of the Philippines to protect his members and troops
in his jurisdiction or on his colony from the Spanish
occupation. Emilio Aguinaldo's and his troop's preparations
for the sultan are also depicted in the film. Emilio Aguinaldo's
election as President of the Philippine Republic is shown in
this film. The Katipunan committee decided to hold an
election under the President's gabinet to elect their president
and leaders.
The committee promptly elected Andres Boniacio, Mariano
Trias, and Emilio Aguinaldo. When Andres Bonifacio, the
creator of Pamahalaang Himagsikan and its
KATIPUNAN SUPREMO, was relegated to a lower
position in the gabinet, he became outraged. Andres
Bonifacio grew upset by Emilio Aguinaldo's leadership and
decided to overthrow him after he was proclaimed officially
the newly elected and first President of the Philippine
Republic following the election.
After the judges found the Bonifacio brothers guilty,
Emilio Aguinaldo sentences them to death. After duping
Aguinaldo into believing that they would assist the
Philippines in gaining independence from the Spanish
province, the Americans instead utilized Emilio Aguinaldo's
name to achieve their own objectives, despite the fact that
Aguinaldo did his best to fight for our independence.
I chose this historical movie film because of the challenges
and circumstances they faced, and since many people gave
their lives fighting for freedom against traitors and
untrustworthy people at the time. know there was great
hardship before we gained our freedom; blood was shed, and
many people died. El Presidente is a fascinating film for me
because it demonstrates how amazing our Filipino warriors
were in regaining our independence from the Spanish,
Americans, and Japanese colonies.
