Without breaking the law, workers are allowed to eat their lunch
at their desks. This temporary change is for offices that have
more than 50 employees. The policy requires all employees to be
at a distance of two meters if they are not or can't wear a
mask. Since having that distance in canteens, and dining areas
is not feasible, the labour code has an amendment that allows
workers to eat at their desks.
The policy change, though temporary, has had the French media
release pictures of workers sadly sitting at their office desks
eating their lunch.

A lunch law? An amendment made to a French labour code has
created quite the buzz. French workers across the country can
now eat ‘lunch at their desks’ without breaking the law. For
people who’ve been used to a good long lunch break, the pandemic
sure has been a Debby downer. Does your country have lunch laws?
