Purpose of this document:


 It informs about cramps in cassettes that can possibly be released.
 Only certain cassette batches and cassettes modified with certain spare part kits “Cassette
Cover Springs and modified Rubber Corners” are affected. See below.
 At cassettes where the cassette cramp is accidentally released by a service action (e.g. pulling
at the clamp), replace it by a cramp of the spare part kit "Cassette Cover Springs and modified
Rubber Corners", spare part number: CM+9 8330 6060 0

Affected serial number(s) / batch:


Following CR Mammography Cassettes are affected:
 CR MM 3.0 Mammo SET 18 x 24 cm (Cassette with Image Plate), ABC Code ESWD2,
with "Lot Numbers" 9Y25 (120 pieces), 9Y26 (180 pieces) and 9Y27 (60 pieces)
 CR MM 3.0 Mammo SET 24 x 30 cm (Cassette with Image Plate), ABC Code ESWE4,
with "Lot Numbers" 9Y25 (60 pieces) and 9Y26 (30 pieces)
 CR MM 3.0 Mammo Cassette 24 x 30 cm, ABC Code ESWCZ,
with "Lot Number" 9Y25 (10 pieces)
 Cassettes modified with one of the first released spare part kits “Cassette Cover Springs and
modified Rubber Corners” (approximately 30 kits)

1 Introduction/purpose

Symptom Cassette cramps in some cassettes can be Clamp Cramp


accidentally released by a service action
(e.g. pulling at the clamp).
Affected cassettes see front page of this
document.
Normally the cassette cramps can only be
released by tools, e.g. by a pair of
tweezers.

NOTE:
The clamps and cramps have been introduced in October 2009:
 As part of spare part kit "Cassette Cover Springs and modified Rubber Corners", spare
part number*: CM+9 8330 6060 0
 As part of all CR Mammography MM 2.0 and MM 3.0 cassettes available via sales
(ABC Code) or spare part channel.
For details refer to CR Mammography Solution Service Bulletin No. 45, DD+DIS211.09E

The symptom described above only appears at cassettes produced the last week of
November 2009 or modified with spare part kits delivered during November 2009.

* The last digit in the spare part number indicates the spare part revision at release of
this document. When ordering, the actual revision of the spare part is delivered.

Cause Some cramps are not manufactured according to specifications: The sharp edges of the
cramps are not outside but inside of the cramps and in consequence the function is not
reliable as specified.

3 Instructions

(1) At cassettes where the cassette cramp is accidentally released by a service action
(e.g. pulling at the clamp), replace it by a cramp of the spare part kit
"Cassette Cover Springs and modified Rubber Corners",
spare part number*: CM+9 8330 6060 0

* The last digit in the spare part number indicates the spare part revision at release of
this document. When ordering, the actual revision of the spare part is delivered.

NOTE:
Batch Number
The batch number is molded on the 9Y25
cassette cover as shown in Figure 2.

4 Verification

When replacing a released cramp, follow the instructions as described in the enclosure
document "Installation of Cassette Cover Springs and of modified Rubber Corners
in the Cover of CR Mammography Cassettes", DD+DIS268.09E.
