HOMEROOM GUIDANCE (HG) LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET (LAS) FOR
GRADE 12
Quarter 1 – Week 1: Self-Analysis: A Step to My Improvement

Name of Student: _____________________________________ Section: _________

After going through this learning activity, you are expected to:

Introduction
In this module, self-awareness is being highlighted. Since people
like you are in constant change where family, school, community
and others play a vital role, you have to be mindful on your strengths and
weaknesses.

Hence, self-evaluation is greatly needed nowadays, especially during this time

of pandemic. You need to assess what you have done so far in terms of
managing the kind of life you have now and how your strengths and
weaknesses helped in facing the challenges brought about by the difficult
situation.

Let’s Try This

Mirroring Therapy

1. Face in front of a mirror and act out your emotional reactions on the
following scenarios or aspects of your personality:
a) Your facial structure
b) The circle of friends that you have
c) Your current academic performance
d) Living with family
e) Personal relationship with God
f) Your current relationship status
g) Your body posture
h) Attitude towards difficulties in life

3
2. Try to observe yourself and evaluate your emotional reactions. Write down
your answers on your HG notebook including your answers to the processing
questions.

Processing Questions:
1. How did you feel about the activity?
2. Was it easy or difficult? Why?
3. Were you able to mirror emotional reactions you had towards the
different scenarios in your life and aspects of your personality? How?
4. What strengths and weaknesses have you noticed or identified?

Let’s Explore This

Based on your identified strengths and weaknesses from the
previous activity, Copy the template in your HG Notebook and
answer the Personal Development Worksheet below. Write your response in
each column about your personal goals and behavior that you would want to
stop, minimize, continue, improve, and start. An example has been provided
as your guide. Answer the processing questions that follows.

Processing Questions:
1. How would this help you to attain your personal goal?
2. What could be the possible barriers in achieving your personal goals?

Keep in Mind
As a 12-Grader and being in the last level of basic education, it is
important that you are aware on your developmental adjustments.

4
How are you as a teenager? A group of researchers led by Amanda Eller states
that a balanced person might develop an active role by interpreting the
expectations of the social actors from the home and work domains and from
other institution. When it comes to life, happiness, and well-being, there is
not one single area of life that we need to focus on. Instead, life is multi-
dimensional and dynamic. The following dimensions will guide you on the
areas to focus and improve.
1. Physical. Your adolescence period is a good time for you to take more
responsibility for your physical health. You can learn to make healthy food
choices, be active, and engage in your own healthcare. It is highly
recommended that you have at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
Valuing your physical health by taking care of your body through the
following: exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, maintain a healthy weight, get
enough sleep, keep up with vaccinations, brush and floss your teeth, and
avoid listening to loud music.
2. Mental. It is important for you to maintain good mental health habits,
including coping, resilience, and good judgment among your age group to
achieve overall wellbeing. Mood swings, for example, are common during
adolescence. Some adolescents might experience a serious mental health
adjustment, such as depression and/or anxiety disorders, at some point in
life. That is why for a healthy mental aspect, you as an adolescent must
remember that talking about your feelings with a trusted person can help.
He/she could be a member of your family or a close friend.
3. Emotional. The adolescent healthy emotional development is marked
by a gradually increasing ability to perceive, assess, and manage emotions.
This is a biological process driven by physical and cognitive changes and
heavily influenced by context and environment. You may be excited to take
on new challenges to become more independent, whereas others may need
more support to build confidence. The process of emotional development gives
you the opportunity to build skills, discover unique qualities, and develop
strengths for optimal healthy emotion.
4. Social. You as an adolescent must continue to refine how you relate
with others. Questions like “Who am I?” and “Who do I want to be?” may direct
you to have a deeper understanding of yourself. It is recommended that you
build relationship with your peers through social interrelated activities. You
may establish healthy relationship with them through freedom to be yourself,
mutual respect of both people in the partnership, support, privacy,
boundaries and communication.
5. Spiritual. Religion has a strong influence to our country even up to
now. The teenagers who are guided and nurtured by a clear belief system and
spiritual activities are much less likely to go off the rails during adolescence.
The experiences and observations you have in your spiritual aspect could
continuously refine your belief system. It is better to be surrounded by adults

5
who can be your good role model and a source of inspiration to improve your
life direction than to be with people who are very prone to be off-track in life.

Therefore, after internalizing the five dimensions of human individual,

it is important to include personal development plan to manage your
strengths and weaknesses.

You can do it
A Personal Development Plan is an action plan for self-development
within the context of education, relationships, career, or for self-
improvement. It provides an awareness and reflection that will help you set
and reach personal goals and improve on various aspects of your life across
various life stages. Do this activity in a clean sheet of paper. At the back of
your paper, write your “Pledge of Commitment” to be submitted to your
adviser.

helping them manifests your acceptance amidst differences. Copy the
template in your HG notebook and write your answer in each column. Answer
the processing questions that follow.

management

9
Processing Questions:
1. Which of the situations is the most difficult to handle or manage?
Why?
2. What type of support or help is the easiest to provide? Explain
3. What have you realized after doing this activity?

Keep in Mind
In dealing with others, we must recognize that we are all different
from one another. Though we may have similarities in terms of
preferences, taste, physical appearance, style and many more, we still have
our distinctions and uniqueness which make us special in different ways.

Our individuality comes with our unique attributes and characteristics.

Some can easily be seen physically while some can be manifested through
actions and behavior which may indicate values and personalities.

There is harmony in diversity, and we can all keep it that way if we learn to
accept one another as we are.

There are healthy ways to deal with our individual differences which would
work for everyone’s advantage. Here are some:

a. Accept that we are all different. Do not assume that your preferences
would always be the same as those of your peers or friends. You may have
different beliefs, culture, values, and even interest, and you cannot force
anybody to be the same as you. Remember, even twins have differences.

b. Use your similarities with other people to strike a harmonious

relationship with them. While you acknowledge that people are different
from another, there are also commonalities which you may take advantage to
establish positive relationship with them. At this point in time, you might have
found the right people who can be your good friends, who can inspire you to
strive harder, and who can be your role model.

c. Be open-minded with others. You can always learn from the experiences
of your friends and peers, and they can also do the same with you. The
manner they overcome life challenges and how they impact their living could
be your insights to improve your lifestyle or even the way you see things
around you. You can also learn from their culture, traditions, and values.

d. Try to consider where others are coming from. Your family set-up may
be different from what your friends have. People might have grown up in a
province or in a highly urbanized city. There are those who have a complete
set of parents and those that have a single parent or no parents at all.
Additionally, people have different childhood experiences which greatly affect

10
their attitude and personality now. There are also those who struggle
financially and those who are well off.

e. If your differences with others are getting in the way, try to have a
common ground. You cannot impose your beliefs, values and culture to
others, the same way that they cannot do that to you. However, instead of
trying to prove who is better and who is not, you may want to find an area
where you can both improve yourself while learning from each other.

Always remember that you co-exist with others. There are things that you
cannot control like the people around you, but you can always manage the
way you deal with them. The choice is always with you, either you make the
most out of those individual differences and have a happy life or you make
that as your limitations.

What I have Learned

Create a slogan or poster on unconditional acceptance of others

and respect for individual differences. You may post it online or physically in
the most noticeable area at home. Use a short bond paper and coloring
materials.

HOMEROOM GUIDANCE (HG) LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET (LAS) FOR
GRADE 12
Quarter 1 – Week 3: Respecting Individuality

Name of Student: _____________________________________ Section: _________

At the end of this session, you are expected to:

1. formulate home/school policies that promote respect for
individual differences; and
2. appreciate actions or behaviors that accept individual
differences.

Introduction
In the last session, you learned about the basic aspects of an
individual. You came to understand that there are no two people
alike, however they complement at each other amidst their differences. More
so, you learned that an individual’s unique characteristics facilitates in
establishing healthy relationship with others. In this learning activity, you will
learn how to promote respect for others along with differences. So, let’s go!

Let’s Try This

As you experience relating with others, you may have experienced
several aspects which have proven differences in individuality. This
activity will assess how you respond showing respect for individual
differences. Study the given situation and write your action on the opposite
column. Write your answer in your HG notebook and the processing question
that follow.

How will you respond to show

Situation respect for individual
differences?
1. Since the start of this pandemic,
it has been your bonding activity
to watch movies as a family. Each
family member looked up to this
moment because it is a rest from
the day’s work and household
chores. However, your younger
siblings are always deciding for
the movies to watch. You have
your own preference, and you do
not like their movies. Your

12
parents encouraged all of you to
watch altogether to save
electricity consumption and stay
together as family.
2. You and your best friend are
oftentimes sharing about how you
treat your special someone. You
learned that your best friend has
a regular day of dating outside
with his/her special someone.
You asked your
girlfriend/boyfriend to do the
same, however she/he refuse to
go out on a date because of fear
being infected with the virus.
What will be your action?
Processing question:

1. How do you feel while answering the activity?

2. Do you find it easy giving respect to individual differences? Explain your
answer

Keep in Mind
Respecting individual differences is not that easy. Oftentimes, we
tend to dislike others who behaves differently from us, or those who dislikes
our preferences. More often, you may find it difficult to to respect them. This
kind of feeling is normal but not healthy. As you develop social responsibility
in relating with others, respecting individual differences is a task that you
must learn.

Below are some suggestions on how you can develop respect for others:

1. Everyone grew up in a “world” different from yours. Each of us

are raised in different families having different family culture,
behaviors, and ways of life. Understanding this perspective will
broaden your point of view.

2. Be strong enough to assertively respect everyone. Instill in your

mind that there are no two people alike and this makes living with
others more exciting. Looking at other peoples’ differences is an
opportunity for your social growth and development.

13
3. Acceptance does not mean agreeing. If you encounter people who
stands on a different viewpoint than yours, learn to accept it but it
does not mean you agree. Look at it as simply a difference in
opinions, not a matter of being right or wrong.

4. Focus on creating connections where similarities exist. Even

how different you are from others, still there are areas where you are
similar. For the sake of establishing respect to others, focus on
looking at things where you can agree at each other.

Respecting others amidst differences will always be challenging.

However, as a growing adolescent this is where you are going.
Venturing into adulthood will require more skills in respecting
others. Thus, it is a must that you equip yourself with that skills.

You can do it
“I Care” Policies

In your HG notebook, write at least five policies at home, and in the

community or online that you personally do to respect individual
differences. Refer to the example provided. Answer the processing questions
after. (Paalala: Maaaring gumamit ng Tagalog o ibang local na lenggwahe

14
Processing Questions:
1. Do you find it easy setting up your own “policies” of respecting
others? Why do you think so?
2. What made you practice such ways of respecting individual

Let’s Try This

Read the story of Anton, a Senior High School graduate, then
answer the processing questions that follow in your HG notebook.

Anton’s Indecisiveness

Anton who took up the General Academic Strand in Senior High School
has a hard time deciding what course to enroll in college. He graduated with
honors and has received special citations. He is great in Science and Math,
but he is also into arts and graphic designing. He was told by his parents to
decide for his course since colleges are already closing admission and the
school opening is approaching fast.

He is spending night analyzing his options. Sometimes he barely sleeps,

over-analyzing all considerations. There are also pressures from his friends

16
for him to join them in the university where there are wide variety of Science
course he can choose from. He also considers the suggestions of his teachers
who see his potential in graphic designing and multimedia arts.

Anton really wants to enroll in the most prestigious school to study the
course that perfectly fits him. After thorough self-deliberation, he comes down
to two schools and four courses. But this does not end his considerations; he
still has more factors to visit.

His family and friends are starting to worry if he could ever make a final
decision.

It has finally come one day when everything was in place. Anton finally
decides to enroll! He hurries to the school of his choice, but he is an hour late!
The enrolment has just closed for his first choice. To add in more to his
regrets, his second chosen program has also reached the maximum number
of students and it was closed days ago.

Sad and full of regrets, Anton goes home thinking of the lost time
overthinking his options. And that is because he can just not make up his
mind.

Processing Questions:
1. Did you experience spending more time to decide that greatly affects
you or your future just like Anton?
2. If you are in his situation, what would be your next move?
3. What should you do so you will not face the same problem as that
of Anton?

Let’s Explore This

Read each statement carefully and determine if it best matches
your opinion. Write AGREE or DISAGREE on the given situations.
Write your answer in your HG notebook.

practical than pursuing a passion that will take years before getting a good

17
___________________ 5. The curriculum exit that you should choose after senior
high school should best match the track and strand you are taking.

Processing Questions:

1. What are the factors that you considered in answering?

2. Do your experiences at this time of pandemic change the way you
decide on things? In what way?

Keep in Mind
We make countless choices every day, from the very moment we
opened our eyes in the morning up to the time we fall back to our
beds, and our choices are neither right nor wrong. Hereunder are suggested
factors in making decisions.
Factors that affect our decisions
We act or decide based on different considerations and factors. Most
especially if the situations demand a very important decision, we need to
carefully assess our choices and calculate the risk that we might face.

1. Environment. The people around us including the current setup

affect the way we see things. They can influence our beliefs and
perception on the consequences of our actions. There are times that
we intend to compare how they face a certain problem with the way
we face it ourselves; this is something that we need to get away from
as we are all different including the situations, we are in.

2. Experiences. Our past encounter with people and the results of our
decisions before mold how we act and decide today. For instance, if
you have proven that a certain person should not be trusted with
your secrets, then you will not entrust him/her the confidential
matters that you have. The same thing if you have a tested action
to be effective like your study habits which led you to get high
grades, then, there is a great possibility to replicate such practice.
Our experiences whether good or bad shape the way we behave
nowadays.

3. Personal characteristics. We should also consider the function of

our culture, attitude, personality, beliefs, abilities, gender, health
condition and others in terms of our way of deciding. You must
recognize that there are enabling and limiting aspects of your
personal characteristics. For instance, in your culture, there may

18
be a stigma on the role of man or woman. It is now up to you
whether you want to live up to that expectation or not. You may
want to look into what science talks about healthy and unhealthy
practices.

4. Facts or data. It is a good practice to decide based on the merit of

facts or data. It will inform you on the exact scenario you are dealing
with and you can calculate how your decisions would impact the
situation. For example, you need to decide your curriculum exit.
You may check the number of schools where you can pursue
whatever course you have plan to have. At the same time, you may
investigate the data on SHS graduates who were employed after
basic education and those that ventured into business.

5. Motivation. Our drive to achieve certain things influences our

decisions. Sometimes we need to let go of small things to attain
greater things. For example, you slipped away your opportunity to
be with your friends on a Saturday because it is your schedule for
college application interview. Your goal to be a college graduate is
bigger than your desire to enjoy the company of your friends, so you
opted to be at the interview.

Your decisions will define the kind of choices you are taking. At the end of
the day, you will be the one to face whatever consequences these decisions
bring. Hence, your decision-making process is very important. If you are in
doubt or confused about your choices, you may want to go to someone who
is well trained to guide and facilitate your decision-making process like a
Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC). If an RGC is not available in your
school, you may consider getting the insights of your trusted teacher, parents,
or adults.

Share your Thoughts & Feelings!

1. Write your personal experiences depicting right or wrong
decisions you made during this pandemic. Cite the reasons why
you did such acts, and how you resolved the issues. Submit your
Output to your adviser. (Paalala: Maaaring gumamit ng tagalog o

At the end of this session, you are expected to:

1. analyze situations that depict tendencies of making right and wrong
decisions or actions; and
2. appreciate the outcome of a good decision.

Introduction
Previously, you were made to analyze a situation where decision-
making plays a great part in its outcome. You were asked to
consider several factors that you may think about in making decisions. In the
end, to decide or not to decide is already a decision. However, to what extent
it would affect you and your future? Teaching you to gain the necessary skill
in decision-making is important because it will help facilitate the
straightforward achievement of your dream.

According to Steven J. Heine, author of the book Cultural
Psychology, choice is something that is surely valued everywhere;
however, the extent to which people value choices and exercise it is influenced
by the context we are in. More choices are available to individuals acting
alone than to those who are part of interdependent group of people; however,
the limits on their choices are likely not experienced as aversive when
individuals share the same goals as their group.

For example, you choose not to attend classes because your peers
invited you to join them outside the school during class hour although you
are aware of your responsibility in the school. This phenomenon is be
explained by Rollo May, an American Psychologist, who articulated that
human beings are inseparable from their environment, a simultaneous
relationship exists, and involving three models such as the following:
(1) the physical and physiological;
(2) the social environment of the people; and
(3) human being’s relationship to their inner nature.

Ludwig Binswanger, an existential psychologist, explained that

humans have complete freedom of choice or free will and are completely
responsible for their own existence. There was always the possibility of
becoming something new or better because existence changes.
How can you correct mistakes from the past? Change your mind set.
Change is always a choice. You need to realize that you can control your own
behavior and need to make better choices. Things do not just happen. You
can take much more effective control of your life through planning.
What are the strategies to promote change and foresee the possible
wrong decisions and future actions? According to American psychologist
Gerald Corey, you must consider first is to explore what your wants, needs
and perceptions are. Try to recognize, define, and refine how you wish to
meet your needs. Second, focus on what you are doing at present and think
of your future direction. Take action by changing what you are doing and
thinking. Third, make a self-evaluation. It is your responsibility to evaluate
your own behavior. Lastly, formulate your action plan. Creating and carrying
out your plans enable you to gain more effective control over your life. If your
plan does not work, devise a different plan. Your commitment is essential to
carry out your plans.

What I have Learned

One of the most challenging decisions confronting you is your next

move after Senior High School. You might have planned it well but
there are other things that may hinder you. Try to write your plan and decide
on what you should do to achieve your plan. Copy the template in a clean
sheet of paper and submit your output to your adviser. (Paalala: Maaaring

Quarter 1 – Week 6: SHS Career Interest Clusters

Name of Student: _____________________________________ Section: _________

At the end of this session, you are expected to:

1. strengthen my decision regarding my chosen track and strand; and
2. identify the career cluster where I belong.

Introduction
It is important to work on something that makes you feel
happy and productive. Making a career decision is not an easy task.
Gaining enough knowledge and information about your strengths and
weaknesses will help you find a better career opportunity. In this
session, you will identify possible career options based on your
interests, talents, and values. You will also gain information about the
other different Senior High School tracks and their corresponding
aptitude requirements.

Let’s Explore This

My Career Cluster

A career cluster is a group of jobs that require similar skills or

share common characteristics. Copy the template in your HG
notebook. Choose a career cluster that interest you most by shading
the heart ( ) beside the statements that apply to you. Then add up the
number of shaded hearts in each group.
Processing Questions:
1. Does this activity help you in planning my future career?
2. What other information do you need to help you make a career
decision?
Keep in Mind
Each career cluster represents inclinations and interests that align
with a particular Senior High School (SHS) track or strand. The
cluster with the highest number of shaded hearts represents your strongest
set of inclinations and interests. Each group or set is related to an SHS track
and strand. In case of an equal number of shaded hearts on several SHS
tracks, you may initially choose the General Academic Strand (GAS) or Cluster
G. If you plan to go to college but do not know which academic track to
pursue, use the Career Wheel (to be discussed in the next session) as a
reference to help identify your preferred job based on your talents, values,
skills, and interests.

What I have Learned

Looking at the number of shaded hearts, identify the top three

clusters that interest you the most. Write your answer in your HG Notebook.

Quarter 1 – Week 7: The Career Wheel

Name of Student: _____________________________________ Section: _________

At the end of this session, you are expected to:

1. identify the different opportunities in the SHS exits; and
2. plot the possible job and/or employment opportunities in the
chosen exit.

Introduction
Career planning must include considerations of the exits to take
after the Senior High School. Your chosen SHS exit will determine
your next step after graduation. Thus, it is important to look ahead and be
prepared.

Let’s Explore This

The Career Wheel

Below is the Career Wheel which showcases the different career

pathways and the related SHS tracks and strands. At the core of the wheel,
you will see the different track and strand including where you are currently
enrolled.

There are different ways of using the Career Wheel.

(1) One way is to look for your prospective career options and
corresponding SHS tracks and strands. For example, if you are
interested in becoming an engineer, you must be enrolled by now in the
SHS Academic Track, particularly the STEM strand.
(2) Another way to use the wheel is to look at the track or strand you are
most inclined to and see what career options are available for you after
SHS or college. For example, if you are inclined to take up the Arts and
Design track, you will see that you may work as a draftsman or
illustrator after SHS or put up a drafting business shop. Some of the
career options available for you upon completion of college include
being an architect or an interior designer.
(3) Copy the template below in your HG notebook and fill-in the
information being asked. Refer to the picture of Career Wheel. Be guided
by the example provided.

Share your Thoughts & Feelings!

After accomplishing the tasks, do have any realizations regarding
your choice of track and strand. Considering that the
