Title:
Electric Fault Detection and Diagnostics in Solar Photovoltaic Arrays

Objectives:
1. Study the impact of the major electric faults on the performance of photovoltaic
array system, taking into account the influence of temperature and solar radiation.

2. Develop a method of detecting and classifying electric faults on photovoltaic arrays

system.

Methodology:
1. Finding an equivalent model for photovoltaic cells.

2. Using MATLAB/SIMULINK environment to simulate and study the behavior of solar

photovoltaic system under normal and faulty conditions.

3. Designing a technique based on the analysis of the anomalies appearing in the (I-V) and the
(V-P) characteristics curves to detect and classify electric faults in solar photovoltaic array
system.
