1. OVERVIEW
EZ-LiteTM is a simple-to-use, yet advanced image capturing, storing, and printing software
used with the Topcon Digital Slit Lamp DC-1 and DC-3, and Topcon Retinal Camera
TRC-NW8.
EZ-LiteTM software runs in Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7 Operating
Systems. It is also supported to run in Windows 7 Spanish OS.
1.1. Precautions
Please read this User Manual with care before using this software.
TOPCON Medical Systems, Inc. has the copyright for the software.
See Section 5 (EZ-LITETM SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS) of this manual.
Reproduction and copying of the software and the User Manual, in whole or in
part, without permission is strictly prohibited.
This User Manual does not describe details about handling procedures of personal
computer and the operation procedures of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
This User Manual is made on an assumption that the user already has knowledge
about the personal computer and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Topcon Medical Systems, Inc. is not responsible for the effects as a result of using
the user manual and software.
Specifications of the software and descriptions in the User Manual are subject to
change without prior notice.
3. Click Next.
The Setup options dialog box displays.
5. (ONLY if DC-3 or DC-1 was selected) – For NW8+D90, skip to Step #9.
The Ligos Indeo Codecs Setup dialog box displays.
6. Click Next.
The License Agreement dialog box displays.
7. Click Yes.
The Setup Status dialog box displays and Installation process takes place.
When completed, the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box displays.
4. Select the Install from a list or specific location option button and then click
Next.
The Choose Search and Installation Options dialog box displays.
Select the Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install option button, and
click Next.
The Select Device Driver dialog box displays.
6. Locate the Driver folder on the CD-ROM. Select the dc3.inf file, and then click
Open.
The Hardware Installation dialog box displays.
4. If unsuccessful, the Installing device driver software message will change to show
that system is unable to find driver at the end.
6. Select the Update Driver Software option from the drop-down menu.
The How-do-you-want-to-search-for-driver-software dialog box displays.
8. Click Browse.
The Browse-For-Folder dialog box displays.
4. If unsuccessful, the Installing device driver software message will change to show
that system is unable to find driver at the end.
8. Click Next.
The Windows Security dialog box may display.

The image window of EZ-LiteTM, in both the capture and the viewing modes, is a
combination of two sub-windows. On the left, all images that are associated with this
particular patient are shown in thumbnail format. Any individual image is shown on the
right hand side when its thumbnail is highlighted and consequently zooming and
enhancing functions can be applied. The user may drag the divider between these two
sub-windows to show the thumbnail images in multiple columns.
Capturing images in EZ-LiteTM for Slit Lamp with DC-3 usually requires the following
steps.
Note: To capture images for a patient whose information is already registered in the
database, click Select Patient. The Select Patient dialog box displays to select a
patient from the patient list. Click OK to begin capturing.
You may zoom in/zoom out, enhance, delete, and print any images during the
capture process. The operation is the same as movie mode.
4. Capture Settings.
Live Window and Interface Settings box will be displayed during Capture
procedure. Some of the settings include variables in Sharpness (-4 to +4),
Contrast (-4 to +4), Sensitivity (200, 400), and White Balance (Auto, Halogen,
Xenon, Custom). To modify any of these settings, select the drop-down menus or
button on the Interface dialog box, update their values and click Save.
Capturing images in EZ-LiteTM for Retinal Camera NW8 usually requires the following
steps.
Note: To capture images for a patient whose information is already registered in the
database, click Select Patient. The Select Patient dialog box displays to select a
patient from the patient list. Click OK to begin capturing.
When process completed, an image is captured and displayed on the right main
window, and a miniature thumbnail image is then added on the left sub-window.
You may zoom in/zoom out, enhance, delete, and print any images during the
capture process.
4. Capture Settings.
No Capture Settings are needed. They are already pre-configured and provided in
NW8 Camera Settings.
5. Save Images.
To save captured images or recorded movies, select File, Save from the menu bar,
or click the save icon on the tool bar. All the images captured will be saved in jpeg
format, and the capture procedure will be closed automatically.
1. To open and view images saved in the database, select File, Open on the menu
bar, or click the Open icon on the tool bar.
The Select Patient dialog box displays.
You may click on the Attribute title button (ID., Name, Sex, Birth Date, Last Visit)
to sort the patient list. Double-click on the patient, or highlight the patient and then
click OK to open an image window for this patient.
Note: Once the image window is open, you can zoom in, enhance, delete, compare,
and print images.
3. Delete an Image
To delete an image, click the Delete icon on the tool bar, or simply use the Delete
key on the keyboard. You may highlight multiple thumbnail images (using Ctrl
key) and delete all.
Note: If you delete all images belonging to a particular patient, the image window will
automatically close and the patient will then be removed from the patient list. After
confirmation, deleted images cannot be recovered.
Click OK to accept the modified image. Any enhanced images will display an “M”
label on the left-upper corner as a distinction from the original.
5. Compare Images
You may show multiple images (up to 4) on screen for comparison purpose.
Highlight multiple thumbnail images (using Ctrl key), and click the Compare icon
on the tool bar.
Note: This function is unavailable in capture mode, and the composite image cannot
be saved.
1. To open and view images saved in the database, select File, Open on the menu bar,
or click the Open icon on the tool bar.
The Select Patient dialog box displays.
You may click on the Attribute title button (ID., Name, Sex, Birth Date, Last Visit)
to sort the patient list. Double-click on the patient, or highlight the patient and then
click OK to open an image window for this patient.
Note: Once the image window is open, you can zoom in, enhance, delete, compare,
and print images.
3. Delete an Image
To delete an image, click the Delete icon on the tool bar, or simply use the Delete
key on the keyboard. You may highlight multiple thumbnail images (using Ctrl
key) and delete all.
Note: If you delete all images belonging to a particular patient, the image window will
automatically close and the patient will then be removed from the patient list. After

1. To print images, highlight single or multiple images (using Ctrl key), and then
select File, Print on the menu bar, or click the Print icon on the tool bar.
The Print window displays.
2. Click Print to complete the printing process.
3.5. Options
The Options dialog box offers an easy way to add your practice information to the
printout and to network multiple review computers across the local area network
(LAN).
3. To modify the name, address and logo image of your practice, enter or select the
corresponding attributes, and then click OK.
These changes display in the Print window.
Note: You may share the same database and images across the local area network
(LAN). Simply modify the database directory path in the Options dialog box to point
to the folder where database and images reside.
1. Move the slider bar for each color channel to adjust the image quality.
3. If you wish to save the adjusted image, click Yes. If you wish to return to the
original image, click No.
To play a movie, click the movie thumbnail you wish to view on the left portion of the
screen. Windows Media Player will automatically start up, and display movie
progress.
Note: Use Media Player menu bar to play, pause, stop, fast-forward, change volume,
return.

BE ACCEPTED AND AGREED BY YOU IF YOU USE OR INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE.
The EZ-Lite™ software, including its instruction manual and other documents, contained in this package comprises
copyrightable works of TOPCON CORPORATION protected by copyright laws and is licensed, not sold.. TOPCON
CORPORATION grants to you the right to use this EZ-Lite™ software under the terms and conditions outlined below.
LICENSE TERMS
1. LICENSE
Subject to the terms and conditions outlined in these LICENSE TERMS, TOPCON CORPORATION
(“TOPCON”) hereby grants to you (“USER”) a non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use the EZ-Lite™
Software including its instruction manual and other documents contained in this package or later provided
(separately or collectively the “SOFTWARE”) only on:
(1) (a) a stand-alone-type single computer, or
(b) a single work station that is connected with a computer network(s), and in which this
SOFTWARE is or will be installed; or
(2) work stations, in each of which the SOFTWARE is or will be installed, and the number of which is limited
to that of the original copies of the SOFTWARE contained in this package corresponding to the number of
users to be allowed to use it under these LICENSE TERMS when this package is so supplied as the “multi-
user” type for a computer network.
Note: If the USER desires to install the SOFTWARE into a network server of the computer network,
USER shall additionally purchase the package containing the SOFTWARE for said network server.
The said stand-alone-type single computer and work stations mentioned in (1) (a), (b) and (2) of this Section 1,
respectively, are hereinafter separately or collectively referred to as the “COMPUTER.”
2. RESTRICTION
2.1 USER shall NOT:
(1) use the SOFTWARE on or with
(a) any computer or machine other than the COMPUTER, or
(b) more than one COMPUTER at a time, or
(c) any computer network under non-compliance with the provisions set out in Section 1(2) above; or
(2) make any copy of the SOFTWARE, except for installing of the SOFTWARE into the COMPUTER’s
internal or external hard disk drive; or
(3) sell, assign, exchange, pass, rent, lease or otherwise dispose of the SOFTWARE, or assign or sub-license
any right to use the SOFTWARE to anyone else (with any such assignment or transfer being void); or
(4) adapt, modify or alter the SOFTWARE, or merge any program with the SOFTWARE, or make any
derivative from the SOFTWARE; or
(5) remove, erase or make unclear any copyright notice of the SOFTWARE; or
(6) analyze or make reverse-engineering to, the SOFTWARE by decompiling or disassembling it.
4. COPYRIGHT
The SOFTWARE is the exclusive property of TOPCON, and all rights to the SOFTWARE and any copies,
modifications, alterations or derivative works thereof, and title to any existing or future patents, copyrights, trade
secrets, trademarks and other proprietary rights embodied therein remains exclusively with TOPCON. USER
acknowledges that there is no transfer of title or ownership of the SOFTWARE from TOPCON.
5. TERM
These LICENSE TERMS shall commence on the date when the SOFTWARE is first used or installed by USER,
and shall remain in full force until the termination hereof pursuant to the provisions set out in Section 6.1 below.
6. TERMINATION
These LICENSE TERMS shall be forthwith terminated if:
6.1 (1) USER decides to cease use of the SOFTWARE (in this event, USER shall, without delay, notify TOPCON in
writing of such decision ); or
(2) USER fails to comply with any term or condition of these LICENSE TERMS.
6.2 Upon any termination of these LICENSE TERMS, USER shall immediately cease to use the SOFTWARE in any
manner, and shall promptly, at USER’s expense, return to TOPCON directly or through its subsidiary, affiliate,
distributor or agent, or destroy at TOPCON’s option, the SOFTWARE and any and all copies thereof (if any).
USER shall notify TOPCON in writing of this together with a written certification of its completion or
destruction if the destruction is requested by TOPCON. Any memory paid by USER shall not be refunded after
use or installation by USER of the SOFTWARE for any reason whatsoever including any termination of these
LICENSE TERMS.
6.3 Any and all provisions set out in Sections 2.2, 3.2, 4, 6.2 and 7 through 10 shall survive any termination of these
LICENSE TERMS.
7. LIMITED WARRANTY
7.1 In the event that a hidden material defect is found by USER, USER shall notify TOPCON in writing of such
defect directly or through TOPCON’s subsidiary, affiliate, distributor or agent within ninety (90) days after USER
has received the SOFTWARE. TOPCON shall, at its sole discretion, elect to either repair such defect, or exchange
with new software, with no charge to USER, subject to the condition that TOPCON has confirmed the existence
of such defect which is attributable to TOPCON and has judged that such defect is material.
TOPCON shall not be liable for any and all obligations under this Section 7.1 if
(1) the hidden defect is not notified within said ninety (90)-day period, or
USER shall not export nor re-export to any country the SOFTWARE or any part or copy thereof without first
obtaining all required authorization from the Japanese or United States government.
In addition, with respect to export and re-export of the SOFTWARE, USER shall observe and comply with any
other applicable export laws and regulations of any other countries and shall not export nor re-export to any
country the SOFTWARE or any part or copy thereof in a manner contrary to any other applicable export laws and
regulations of any other countries.
and that TOPCON shall be entitled to a temporary or permanent injunction or any other appropriate decree of specific
performance or equitable relief (without being required to post any bond or other security) from a court of competent
jurisdiction in order to prevent, prohibit or restrain any such breach or violation, or threatened breach or violation.
Such injunctive or other equitable relief is in addition to any other rights and remedies TOPCON may possess.
