Major Highlights from 1st of July - 30th of August

● Yair Lapid is an Israeli politician and former journalist who has been serving as
the 14th prime minister of Israel since 1 July 2022.

● Microblogging platform Moajor Twitter has announced that it is launching


‘Unmentioning’ feature, which lets users remove themselves from conversations.

● Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra becomes the first Indian to clinch
the Lausanne Diamond League with a best throw of 89.08m.

● The 2022 National Games of India, also known as Gujarat 2022, will be the 36th
edition of the National Games of India and will be held in Ahmedabad,
Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar in the state of Gujarat
between 27 September and 10 October 2022.

● 23-year-old player Elena Rybakina became the first player from Kazakhstan to
win a grand slam title. She also became the youngest Wimbledon champion
since 2011. Novak Djokovic won his fourth straight Wimbledon men’s singles title,
and his 21st grand slam title overall. He is now one grand slam title behind the
all-time record set by Rafael Nadal of 22.

● Droupadi Murmu has become India's first tribal President.

● Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled Varuna, India’s first passenger drone.

● The winners of the 68th National Film Awards were announced in New Delhi. The
Best Actor award for the year is to be shared by Suriya and Ajay Devgn for their
work in Soorarai Pottru and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior respectively.

● International Tiger Day is observed globally on 29th July every year. This day
aims to encourage all to take appropriate action to save the wild cats. This year’s
theme for International Tiger Day 2022 is “India launches Project Tiger to revive
the tiger population”. They support initiatives that collaborate with regional people
to safeguard tigers and also take strong action against poaching and illegal trade.

● Britain has become the first country to authorize a Covid - 19 vaccine that targets
the Omicron variant. The UK medicine regulator approved the ‘bivalent’ vaccine
made by Moderna as a booster for adults.
● Jagdeep Dhankhar of the Bharatiya Janata Party is the current vice president. He
became vice president after defeating Indian National Congress candidate
Margaret Alva in the 2022 election.

● The world's largest floating solar project is set to be built on river Narmada as the
Madhya Pradesh government signed a contract for the first phase of the project.

● Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Bosch India’s first smart
campus in the city of Bengaluru built at a cost of Rs 800 crore. This campus will
be used in developing futuristic products and solutions for India and for the world.
The inauguration of the Spark.NXT Campus of Bosch India coincided with the
75th anniversary of Indian independence.
