 Idea/PoC Title : Voice Based Home Automation System
 Abstract Of Idea/Poc :

Time is a very valuable thing. Everybody wants to save time as much as they can. To
save people’s time we are introducing Home Automation system using Bluetooth. With
the help of this system you can control your home appliances from your mobile phone.
You can turn on/off your home appliances within the range of Bluetooth. The main
objective of this project is to develop a home automation system using an Arduino board
with Bluetooth being remotely controlled by any Android OS smart phone. Presently,
conventional wall switches located in different parts of the house makes it difficult for the
user to go near them to operate. Even more it becomes more difficult for the elderly or
physically handicapped people to do so. Remote controlled home automation system
provides a most modern solution with smart phones.

The concept of controlling home appliances using human voice is interesting. The
proposed system has two main components; they are (a) voice recognition system, and
(b) wireless system. This system to control home appliances uses a voice controlled
android application. By the increasing use of PC (personal computers), internet, mobile
phone and wireless technology, it makes it easy for a user to remotely access and controls
the appliances. This system is super-cost effective and can give the user, the ability to
control any electronic device without even spending for a remote control. This project
helps the user to control all the electronic devices using his/her Smartphone.

 This project focuses mainly on Consumer Electronics or Home Electronics sector. It has
got immense applications in household and in the industries where it can be used to
automate them completely.

 Details about Idea/Poc:

1. Define Problem Statements (or) Pain Points:

 Now-a-days we use many electrical devices at homes, industries, offices,
institutions that are controlled manually.
 To control all electrical devices we need a lot of “MAN POWER”. If manpower
increases maintenance cost also rises.
 This causes a disbenefit to the industry. So to avoid these kind of drawbacks we
need some wireless controlling systems.
 One such wireless communication system to be used is Bluetooth communication
system.
 Along with this another aspect is the time factor.
 The use of “MAN POWER” also increases the time involved with the
functionalities and if it is involved with something large then the effects can be
very detrimental.

2. Prescribe solution to the defined problem:

So to avoid these kind of drawbacks we need some wireless controlling systems. One
such wireless communication system to be used is Bluetooth communication system.
This communication system can be used in all fields like industry, domestic purposes like
home appliances controlling using Bluetooth as a remote. This system can be helpful for
elderly or disabled persons who are unable to go to the switch board to control the
devices. Remote operation is using smart phones or devices with Android operating
system, upon a GUI(Graphical User Interface) based voice command. This Arduino
based voice controlled home appliances using Bluetooth uses the android application that
sends voice command to the devices through the Bluetooth. The main attraction of any
automated system is reducing human labour, effort, time and errors due to human
negligence. We can control all loads at a time from one place without connecting any
physical wire between loads and control room.

3. What is the technological innovation associated with the solution?

The proposed system has two main components, they are (a) voice recognition system,
and (b) wireless system. This system to control home appliances uses a voice controlled
android application. This project put forwards the implementation of home automation
and security system using Arduino microprocessor and Android smartphone. Home
appliances are connected to the microprocessor and communication is established
between the Arduino and Android mobile device or tablet via Bluetooth module. We
would develop an authentication to the system for authorized person to access home
appliances. The device with low cost and scalable to less modification to the core is much
important. It presents the design and implementation of automation system that can
monitor and control home appliances via android phone or tablet.
4. Describe if any intellectual property (IP) component associate with the solution
prescribed
No, intellectual property component has been associated with the project. This project
uses components which are effortlessly available in the market. It is an exceptionally low
cost, reliable and scalable home automation system which requires no sophisticated
components for its making.
